Responsible Citizens on Remembrance Day

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Daisies class were very responsible during today’s minute silence. We all sat nice and calm when the bell rang. We particularly enjoyed the cBeebies poppy field animation clip.

We used pastels to create a sunset picture. Some of us chose to include fields, poppies and soldiers in our pictures. They are very effective!

The Daisies have enjoyed participating in Remembrance Day themed activities this week. We created paper airplanes and had great fun using them in a race!

We also enjoyed exploring poppy themed sensory bags and creating a handprint poppy picture.

We worked together to make a handprint poppy wreath and used it to decorate our window.

Finally, we explored red foods and drinks and had a tasting session. We tried red cola, red apples, raspberries, red Pringles and red laces.

The Daisies class have enjoyed a range of Halloween activities this week.

We enjoyed carving pumpkins and used them in a science activity to make them erupt! (See our Science blog for the eruptions)

We made a range of toilet roll Halloween crafts including pumpkins, vampires and Frankensteins.

We played spooky Halloween bowling and used the numbered cups to help us choose which Halloween goodies to taste. We shared whether we liked the taste of these goodies or not.

We made some white chocolate ghosts for a special Halloween snack and loved our goodies from the lunch hall.

Finally, today we loved dookin’ for apples and playing a Halloween hide and seek game.

Diwali Fun in the Daisies Class!

* SUCCESSFUL LEARNERS, RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS *

The Daisies class enjoyed celebrating Diwali this afternoon. We read a story called “Dipal’s Diwali” and learned about the celebrations and customs related to this festival.

We also explored rainbow coloured salt and enjoyed touching, patting and mixing this.

Finally, we created our own rangoli patterns for a school competition and these are on display on our classroom door.
