Friendship assembly

It was out class assembly this week. We sat at the front of the assembly hall facing all our friends.  Our assembly was about Friendship. We shared what we like to do with our friends in the Sunflowers class. We made our own friendship recipe and someone from every class helped. We were confident individuals and chose a friend to give a lovely friendship card we had made to.

Well Done Sunflowers!

Visit to the Willowbank Café

Today the Sunflowers were invited to the Willowbank café run by some of our secondary pupils as part of their enterprise groups. The children were confident individuals going to the lunch hall at snack time which is very different to our usual routine. They were able to look at the menu and choose what they would like to eat and drink. They all sat really well and waited for their food. We also sang good luck to Miss Campbell who is leaving the Sunflowers today. Good Luck Miss Campbell in your new adventure. The pupils working at the café also did a lovely sing and sign to the music that was playing. It was really good. I think the Sunflowers will be super excited when we get an invitation to go again.  🙂

We also investigated different musical instruments. We had to shake some instruments and hit others. It was great fun.

FAOL – Whole school

The year we all participated in our school nativity – Away in  a manger. We all tried on costumes and participated in the school performance of the Nativity rehearsals. We performed the nativity in front of an audience of pupils and the parents and helped to make props. Some pupils have been learning the song words and some signs. It was a fabulous show and the pupils worked really hard. Well Done everyone!

Christmas jumper day

Today we all wore our Christmas jumpers. Everyone had a different Christmas jumper on. We designed our own Christmas jumpers using stickers and had lots of different Christmas materials and objects in the tuff tray to design our own Christmas jumpers too. In the afternoon we joined with the Daisies and had a fun afternoon making sock snowmen, watching a Christmas film and helping to make a gingerbread house. It was a wonderful day.

FAOL Enterprise

For our school Christmas market all classes make something to sell. We decided to make hot chocolate reindeer. All pupils were able to pour hot chocolate into the cone shape bags. Most pupils were able to stick on the details to add faces to our designs. Some pupils were able count an amount of marshmallows for each cone.

FAOL – Science

We investigated candy canes. We held them in our hands feeling whether they were hard or soft. We hung buckets on the end of our candy canes and then filled the buckets up to see how many objects the candy cane could hold. We then put the items back in the box counting them as we went. It was great fun.

Printing with fruit and vegetables

Our theme is the Hungry Caterpillar. We were able to identify some fruits and vegetables and use these to complete some art work. We cut up the fruit and vegetables and dipped them in paint and made printing patterns on the paper. We investigated the print in made. Some worked better than others. We really liked the pear shape it made. We used carrots, potatoes, apples and pears.
