PRIMARY 7 Transition Information
We are looking forward to seeing the new S1s this week and hope they are excited about their visit!
In preparation for these days there will be a virtual classroom visit to all P7s to remind them about the format for the two days. During the induction days (Tuesday and Wednesday) teaching staff and senior pupils will be on hand to ensure that they are supervised and supported at all times. As part of the virtual class visit I will be reminding pupils about the following items and bits of information they will need to bring with them next week:
- A schoolbag and stationery
- A note of their new PLP and practical class (eg. 1A1- 1P3)
- Their username and password for logging on to the computers, this is the same one used in the primary school
- A pair of trainers for P.E.
- A snack for interval
- A free school lunch will be available, although you may wish to bring your own packed lunch.
Our school cafeteria has kindly agreed to provide a free school meal for any pupil who would like to sample what’s on offer, although, you may wish to bring your own packed lunch. Please note that our new S1 will have a designated area to eat lunch as a year group and will not be allowed to leave this area at interval or lunch during their two day visit.
Kind regards

P1A, P1B, P2 and P2/3 Summer Outing
All of the classes had a fantastic day out at Dumfries House today and the children are all a credit to our school and their families. We had an excellent day and this video says it all about the fun had by our P1A and some of our P1B children sneaked into some pictures. Enjoy the short video. I am sure the children would all be exhausted this evening because they never stopped the whole day.

For the attention of current Primary 4 – Primary 6 Parents – Learning Journals
Learning Journals
Due to the excellent response to the use of Learning Journals in our P1-3 classes, we are very excited to be introducing the use of them to the upper classes starting next session. To help with preparation work for these, we need the current P4 – P6 children’s parents/carers to complete the form below and then the process of setting up the journals can begin.
What are Learning Journals?
The Learning Journals app allows staff to upload photos and videos of your child’s learning. The system is clear, simple and easy to use for parents, staff and children.
A huge benefit of Learning Journals is that it provides a lasting visual record of a child’s time at school. The profiles can be exported to a printable PDF to be kept forever, as well as having an electronic copy that can be viewed whenever you want.
Learning Journals is a web based service, therefore parents are now able to login and catch up with their child’s progress wherever they are be it home, work or even out and about, by using their smartphones.
Parents can instantly leave comments and feedback ensuring that the school have a strong link with the home.
Please see the image below to view the app you must download from your play/app store.
Getting started:
In order to be sent a username, password and pin allowing you to log in to view your child’s account, parents/carers must complete the contact form below.
Once added to the system, Learning Journals will then send you the link to get logged in.
For further information, please visit the Learning Journals website by clicking the link below.

Ayrshire Burns Competition 2022
Tomorrow 6 of our pupils will visit Belmont Academy in Ayr where they will perform in either verse speaking, singing or instrumental, representing our school in the Ayrshire Burns Competition 2022.
