A massive well done to our very own Mrs B (Mrs Bradford) who graduated last Saturday with a SCOTACS Diploma in Counselling and Groupwork. Everyone at New Cumnock PS is so proud of you and all you have achieved.
Parent’s Evening success!
We were delighted to welcome our families back into school this week to visit their child’s classroom at Parent’s Evening.
We hope hope you enjoyed the opportunity to see your child’s work and meet their teacher.
A huge thank you to our outside agencies such as Childsmile, Active Schools, EA Young Carers and our Parent Council for showing their support by also coming along to meet our families and discuss their roles in supporting our children.

Eco Schools Award!
We are absolutely delighted to announce we have been awarded our 5th Eco Schools Scotland Green Flag Award!
The feedback praised the fantastic work we have carried out during this journey. It was recognised how challenging these times have been and celebrated that we were able to keep our Eco-Schools work going on despite all. We covered all Seven Elements of the Eco-Schools programme. Despite the restrictions that have been in place, staff and pupils have shown commitment and determination in completing your planned actions.
Achieving a Green Flag Award means a good amount of versatility and commitment from staff and pupils. Our evidence showed that it has been a busy and impactful journey as the understanding and connection with making the world more sustainable has been very powerful and pupils have not only been taking actions in school but also within the community. Staff has helped to create a nurturing, inclusive, innovative, and stimulating learning environment, and a respectful and positive ethos by working closely with everyone in the school community. We have taken a unique chance to reflect on our findings, reflecting on what the pupils have learned and how to go forward.
All pupils benefited from a wide range of challenging, motivating, meaningful and fun learning experiences which support them to develop creativity, resilience, and independence. Pupils have learned how they can take action on a local and global scale to develop a more sustainable lifestyle for the benefit and preservation of the planet. Their efforts throughout the journey should support them to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens, and effective contributors.
School Christmas Fair 2022 – Donations needed!
With our upcoming Christmas Fair on Saturday 26th November, we are on the look out for the following donations…
-
Good quality second hand toys for our toy stall.
-
Donations for a bottle stall. (This can be anything from a bottle of tomato sauce or bubble bath to a bottle of wine or a spirit.)
-
Donations of shortbread or mince pies.
-
Donations of raffle prizes.
We will be taking donations from Monday 14th November. These can be given to your child’s class teacher or handed in at the main office. (Please note that alcohol donations should not be sent in with children and should be handed in at the main office by parents/carers.)
Winter Jacket Project 2022
With the cold weather fast approaching, we believe that every child should have a warm jacket for winter.
Please help us to make this happen by donating your out-grown jackets and we will find a child at New Cumnock Primary who can reuse it. Either send these in with your child to school or hand them in to the main office.
If you have a child at home who needs a winter jacket, we want to help you!
We will have the donated jackets stored in our Parents Room which you can access at any point during the school day, just come to the main office.
Alternatively, please complete the form below and state the gender and size of jacket you require and we will try our best to source one for you and send it home with your child.

Parental Engagement – Literacy and Numeracy Packs
Apologies for the delay, but our Literacy and Numeracy parental packs have now been sent home with every ‘oldest and only’ child in the school, thus ensuring we have both packs sent home to every one of our families.
We hope you find the information and activities in these helpful! If you have any questions about the content in these, please contact Mrs McNulty on danielle.mcnulty@eastayrshire.org.uk.
Thank you again for your continued partnership in supporting your child’s learning.
Halloween Costume Recycling
With Halloween just around the corner, and our school Halloween Fun Day this Friday 28th October, you’ve probably been thinking about what your child will want to dress up as this year?
We are so grateful for the kind donations of unwanted costumes, which we made available to our families at our Clothing Recycling Station, located in our Parent’s Room today!
If you were unable to attend today and would like to take a costume free of charge, we will be opening our Clothing Recycling Station once again tomorrow (Thursday) from 3pm-3.30pm. Please enter via the school main entrance.
In a world of fast fashions and rising costs, let’s work together to save money and be kinder to our environment!
