As you will all know, our Burns Heritage is a huge part of our school life. Unfortunately the Robert Burns World Federation were unable to host their annual Schools Competitions this year.
However, in their absence they have collated performers to showcase a Youth Concert, featuring our very own Lucy W from P7 who will be reciting poetry and representing Ayrshire in doing so!
The concert will feature pupils from across Scotland and we are so proud of Lucy being invited to perform too! The concert will be streamed on Zoom tomorrow evening (Friday 23rd July) at 7.30pm. The meeting link and join code has been sent out to families on the school app. If you are unable to access this and would like to receive the code, please email Mrs McNulty at danielle.mcnulty@eastayrshire.org.uk.
Today we enjoyed celebrating Scotland participating in the European Championships by coming to school wearing Scotland strips or blue, white or tartan clothing.
We got into the spirit by streaming the game live in our classes this afternoon.
While it wasn’t the result we were looking for today, what an achievement for the team to make it to this stage for the first time in 23 years and amazing to see so much team work and support for our country!
Tomorrow our Primary 7s will be visiting Treetop Trials near Kilmarnock.
We will be leaving at 9.10am and returning to school at 3.50pm.
There won’t be school transport available so please make arrangements to have your child collected from school on return.
Pupils will be doing archery, tree top trials and crate stacking.
Pupils should wear suitable casual clothing covering their arms and legs.
Appropriate footwear is required for forest activities.
Pupils will be required to wear a face covering for the bus. If they do not have their own, one will be provided for them.
No mobile devices allowed.
Children are required to bring a packed lunch.
We are looking forward to a fun filled day. ❤️
This term has been very a different one after a long period of Remote Learning, and we again want to thank our families for being our partners in learning during this time. We are so happy to have all our children back in school and to round off the term we are sending each of them home with an Easter egg from the school.
We have also kindly received gift bags for each child from New Cumnock Parish Church and these will be distributed after the holiday to allow them to be quarantined before our young people bring them home.
We wish you all a safe and relaxing Easter holiday.
Mrs McMurdo and Team New Cumnock
