Throughout the school year, we will use a variety of strategies to report to our parents on a regular basis. It is important that you can access each of those detailed below. If you are experiencing difficulty with any of our communication platforms, please contact the school for support.
As we are a paperless school, the School App is our main method of communication when reaching out to our parents quickly with important matters.
To download the app, please search PSA in the Apple of Google Play app stores.
The School Blog will be used to share whole school matters and events with our families.
Please find the link below to the main page. You may find it useful to save this as a shortcut on your mobile device to enable you to access it easily.
The many tabs on the School Blog can be used to navigate a wealth of information about our school which is shared there.

This session we will be using Learning Journals across the whole school from P1-7 to report on individual children’s progress across the curriculum.
Photos and comments about your child’s learning will be shared with our families on a private profile here, enabling you to view, comment and share learning experiences which take place outside of school.
Please ensure that you have submitted your contact details to enable you to access your child’s account.

#glenaftoninthecommunity #aftonarmy #YourTeamOur School App remains our main source of communication between ourselves and our families.
Please make sure you have downloaded the app and select New Cumnock Primary School from the list.
Don’t forget, you can filter the app to receive messages applicable to your child’s class. Please ensure you select ‘whole school’ as well when you do this, so as not to miss whole school messages.
Over the past few years our school role has gradually increased. As a result, we have more children entering and exiting the building. Unfortunately, due to where our school is positioned and the flood works going on along the back lane, we don’t have a large enough waiting area for parents who are collecting younger children at the end of the day. To avoid congestion and ultimately keep everyone safe near the road, we need to continue to use multiple entrance and exit points. The playground is not an option for the entire school, as it was in the past, due to the amount of parents that would now be congregating. Some of our children, for various reasons, would find that situation very overwhelming.
Last week we trialled using the carpark beside the softplay area (gates closed) as a potential waiting area for our infant classes. On Friday afternoon this area was very congested. As a result I would like to change the arrangements slightly at the end of the day only to ensure the safety of our children and parents. Morning drop off will remain as it was, as this worked well.
To support our plans please ensure one adult is involved in dropping off and collecting your child at school. Also, once you have collected your child please clear the playground and boundary around the school as soon as possible.
We will continue to monitor the arrangements above over next week and make changes accordingly.
Can I take this opportunity to thank those parents I have liaised with directly over the past few days regarding the arrangements and also to the wider parent body for their support and patience. I appreciate that this is a lengthy message with yet again more changes, however I’m sure you will understand this is not a straightforward operation. Ultimately, the safety of our children and families is paramount.
As always, we value the views of our families and continue to ask that if you have any questions or queries around operations such as these, to contact us via email or ring the school to make an appointment to speak with a member of the management team and we will happy to discuss these with you.
Don’t miss your last opportunity to visit the UNIFORM BANK this Wednesday (29th June) in the main hall from 8.45am-9.30am. (Please enter via the gym hall door to the rear of the school car park).
We have sweatshirts, polo shirts, trousers, skirts and jackets available in a variety of sizes. Come along and pick up any items FOR FREE!
Any items remaining after Wednesday will be donated to ‘Phase 2’ Boutique, 71 Castle, New Cumnock.

At Friday’s Get Togethers, we were entertained by pupils who competed in the Ayrshire Burns Competition this month, showcasing their talents in singing, poetry and instrumental to their peers.
Everyone was amazed by and in awe of the talent displayed by our young people! Many pupils have since voiced an interest in competing next year after seeing what can be achieved.
Mrs Wilson was presented with a beautiful bunch of flowers to say thank you for all her help in support in accompanying our singers with the piano. We are so grateful for her help!
Well done again to all our talented children, we are so proud of you all!
We couldn’t be more proud of Team New Cumnock this weekend! ❤️
Each and every one of our pupils who represented the school at the Regional Ayrshire Burns Competition is a superstar. The performances they gave in front of a large audience and the feedback from the judges on their adjudication sheets is testament to that!
We are delighted to be bringing home the following prizes:
1st place P6/7 Instrumental: Ciara B
1st place P6/7 Singing: Alex M
1st place P4/5 Singing: Adele M
2nd place P6/7 Poetry: Emma Y
3rd place P1-3 Poetry: Kal M
Well done everyone, you are all stars! ⭐️
Mrs McNulty would like to extend her thanks to Mrs Wilson for coming in to school to accompany our singers to help them rehearse on the run up to the competition. ❤️
Tomorrow 6 of our pupils will visit Belmont Academy in Ayr where they will perform in either verse speaking, singing or instrumental, representing our school in the Ayrshire Burns Competition 2022.
I’m sure you will all join me in wishing these youngsters all the very best! I know they will do us proud and showcase their wonderful talents!
Mrs McNulty ❤️
