Value of the Month Family Challenge – Responsibility

As our value this month is responsibility, we are spending time thinking about how to be respectful. In school, we have identified the following ways we can show responsibility and we are working hard on this.

  • Making good choices
  • Being trustworthy
  • Caring for our school community

This month, we invite you to:

  1. Discuss with your family what things you do in your home and community to show responsibility. This might be being responsible for making your own pack lunch or doing a community event with one of your clubs.
  2. Complete the sheet by drawing pictures or making a list, showing what things you do to show responsibility. You might need to ask an adult at home to help with this. Your teacher will give this out.
  3. You will be discussing how you have displayed responsibility in your home and community during week beginning Monday 30th October. We can’t wait to hear all about your experiences.

To support living by our values in school, at home and in our local community, we have given every family one of our values magnets to display in your home as a reminder.

JUPITER PARENT LETTER

Dear Parent/Carer,

EAC – Journey to Jupiter

We are delighted to be participating in East Ayrshire Council’s new Active Travel
initiative Journey to Jupiter this session. The aim of this project is to get young
people walking to school in a bid to further reduce our carbon emissions here in
East Ayrshire, while also reducing congestion at our school gates and promoting
Active Travel.

Each time our young people travel to/from school by walking, scooting/cycling,
they will earn an S-mile for their class.

Park & Stride – pupils will earn an S-Mile even if they walk part of the journey
to/from school. A walking circuit will be available in the playground for pupils who
travel to school by taxi/bus and for any pupil who wishes to gather bonus S-miles
for their class during break/lunch times.

Bonus S-Miles can be earned by parents/siblings/staff walking the journey to
school too. Class walks, outings and Daily Mile time also earn S-Miles for classes.
Classes will receive certificates/rewards each time they set a new walking record
for their class. We will collate our S-Miles each week in school and send our totals
to the Climate Change Team at East Ayrshire Council each month.
The Launch!

Once all participating schools have banked 444,000 S-Miles, we will have enough
power bars to launch our EAC Clean Green rocket, sending it all the way to Jupiter.
We will begin collecting S-Miles on Tuesday 26
th September and continue to
gather as many as we can throughout the year.

Thank you in advance for supporting our Journey to Jupiter.
From our NRPS Climate Champions

Please see below a letter regarding the Jupiter initiative.

Value of the Month Family Challenge – Respect

As our value this month is respect, we are spending time thinking about how to be respectful. In school, we have identified the following ways we can show respect and we are working hard on this.

  • Being polite and kind to others
  • Treating others the way you want to be treated
  • Consider others’ feelings, wishes and rights

This month, we invite you to:

  1. Discuss with your family what things you can do to show respect at home and in your community. This might be making your bed, spending time with a family member or walking the dog.
  2. Carryout some things that show respect and fill the inside and outside of the house with pictures or words to show what you have achieved this month. You might need to ask an adult at home to help with this. Your teacher will give this out.
  3. You will be discussing how you have displayed respect in your home and community during week beginning Tuesday 26th September. We can’t wait to hear all about your experiences.

To support living by our values in school, at home and in our local community, we will be giving every family one of our values magnets to display in your home as a reminder.
