Community Garden

Well what a wonderful 4 days P4 and P2/3 have had outdoors. We have our raised beds and pots planted out with blue salad potatoes, garlic, purple carrots, white and red onion, strawberries, rhubarb, panties and narsturtiums. Today we used little pots to plant tomato, courgette and peas seeds which we will bring on indoors before we plant out. While we were outdoors and requested by the children we took the opportunity to do some still life nature drawings, minibeat hunt and identification using pooters and magnifying glasses and tree identification. Thank you to the P6 boys who helped with the pooters making it all possible to see the mini beasts closer up. Just take a look at how engaged we all were.

Primary 4 and primary 2/3 have been busy in the garden today planting our “Soup and Pudding” themed raised beds.

Accessibility Button

We have activated a new accessibility button on our school blogs. This blue button should appear in the bottom right-hand corner of the blog and allows the line spacing, font, images etc to be changed to best suit your needs.

Hopefully this will assist some of our users to allow everyone to access the information in the best format for them.

World Book Day 2023

We are once again celebrating World Book Day at Mauchline PS & ECC. This year we are celebrating on Thursday 2nd March.

The children are invited to dress up as a book character, or simply bring a prop from their favourite book e.g. Harry Potter’s wand, a mixing bowl from George’s Marvellous Medicine etc. If not dressing up, the children are welcome to dress down on the day. (No football clothes/colours please).

Please hand in any old costumes that you cannot use any more to the school office. We are happy to add them to our recycling rack in the school.

The teachers will have events planned for the day that promote the enjoyment of reading. The ECC will have their own events planned for the day and will be informing parents/carers of their plans.

World Book Day – Thursday 2nd March 2023

We will once again be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March. More details will follow after the February holiday, however we just wanted to ask if anyone has any costumes that their child/children used in a previous year that they no longer require? If you do, please send them into the school office and we will find a new home for them.

Save the date - World Book Day | World Book Day is a registered charity. Our mission is to give every child and young person a book of their own.
