Class Glow Pages

Please remember to check for the class page that your child is in. Every teacher, over the next few weeks, will be posting some messages and activities for the children to complete.

The class pages work differently from the main Blog Post (this one) as it doesn’t provide alerts straight to the APP. You have to have a look to see if there have been any updates.

The posts from the main blog page (this one) are sent straight to the APP. You have to select the News tab in the APP to see what has been added.

We are all on a learning curve at the moment with regards to distance learning, so please be patient as staff are still also working in the local hubs – and some also have their own cherubs to home-educate!

Extra learning ideas

Good afternoon from Mrs Cross!!

I am busy trying to find the best home-learning activities to supplement the home-learning packs that were provided last week.

I have added some ideas for P1 and P5-7 for numeracy learning at home – I’m still looking for extra ones for P2-4.  I have added the documents to the class blog pages.

Here are three packs that I have just found on the internet that give some lovely suggestions:

Microsoft 365

As part of accessing Glow, all children now have access to Microsoft 365 which contains Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Teams etc.

This is a fabulous resource and one which will allow the children to keep their I.T. skills polished.

Just in case you are having difficulty accessing this at home, please try the following:

  • If you are asked to enter log in details when clicking on Office 365, your details are as follows;
  • Your Glow username (the one you use to log in to Glow) followed by @glow.sch.uk
  • The password is then the same as your Glow password (for most of the pupils at the moment the password is mauchline (no capitals).

Glow

All children from P1-7 have been provided with a Glow email and password. The older children already knew their passwords.

The rest of the pupils have been issued with their Glow username and password. For the moment all children’s passwords have been set as mauchline. No capital letter.

Passwords can then be changed as required.

Home Learning Packs

Your child should have brought home a home-learning pack. The activities contained in them are simply a guide to some suggested activities that they can complete at home.

In the pack there is also a stapled list of resources and websites to assist with some basic everyday activities that the children can be getting on with while they are away from school.

I have attached the stapled copy below – this was given out to all children regardless of their age (P1-7).

School Values Poster

The children have been revising the School Values of Friendship, Respect, Honesty and Kindness at the assemblies over the last few weeks. We have designed a voluntary homework competition and invited the children to design a poster for one of the Values.

Homework Task: To design and make a poster about one of our School Values (or you can make a poster for all of them if you choose). We have already talked about Friendship and Respect and we are now going on to talk about Honesty.
INSTRUCTIONS:
Design a poster about what Honesty means to you.
Colour, paint, decorate your poster in any way you choose.
If you need paper, please ask Ms Dougan, your class teacher or Mrs Cross for some.
Hand your Honesty poster in to the school office by Friday 31st January.
Make sure your name and class are on the front of your poster.
After we have completed all of the School Values everyone who has created a poster will get an extra playtime.

Week beginning 3rd February will be Kindness.

Lego Lookout!

We are hoping that you may have some unused/unwanted Lego lying around the house that you would be willing to donate to the school.

We would very much appreciate any and all donations!

If you have any Lego please either send it in with your child or hand it in to the school office.

Welcome Back!

We would like to say a huge ‘Welcome Back’ to all of our pupils, parents and staff as we begin the new school session.

We have new staff in place in both the primary and the Early Childhood Centre and also some new families joining the school. We would like to extend a very warm welcome and wish them a successful transition into Mauchline PS & ECC.

RAG BAG

It’s time once again to look out any clothes, shoes etc that are in need of being recycled.

The children were all provided with a RAG BAG today to bring home.

The collection is on Thursday 16th May. Thank you!
