Activity 1 – Home Patterns
Focus – I am exploring patterns all around me.
Resources – items in the home.
Make a pattern out of things you find at home e.g. items from outside, kitchen utensils, hair clips, toys – anything you can think of. Patterns can also be drawn.
Families are invited to email a photograph to our home learning email address cdpsp1@gmail.com
Activity 2 – Patterns at Home
Focus – I am exploring patterns all around me.
Resources – items in the home.
At home, look for items that have patterns (e.g. wallpaper, fabric, socks, scarves, adverts). These can be photographed and emailed in to class if you wish – cdpsp1@gmail.com
Parents may also like to do vegetable printing with poster paints and potatoes or carrots cut into interesting shapes.
Activity 3 – Patterns at Home
Focus – I can create a more organised pattern using a variety of materials, sounds or movements.
Resources – items in the home.
At meal times, if practical, arrange your child’s food in any kind of pattern on the plate. For example, cucumber slices ranged round a burger or carrot sticks alternated with sausage rings. This gives an opportunity for the family to talk about – and invent – patterns together.
Activity 4 – Patterns at Home
Focus – I can recognise, describe and create patterns.
Resources – paper (draw an outline of -shirt) and pens
Design a pattern for Teddy’s T-shirt and bring in to school to share.
