P4/5 organised the family ceilidh during Scottish week. All families enjoyed Scottish dancing, a lovely supper and entertainment from different children reciting their poems.
Our Scottish week was rounded off with family and friends joining a Scottish morning where the poetry winners recited their poems, received their certificates and classes sung songs such as Jeelie Piece and Donald, where’s yoor Troosers?
All the boys and girls worked hard to practise and perform a Scot’s poem. The finalists were judged by Mr Plant . He had a hard decision in all classes but his final choice was:
P1 – Moray Allison (Raindrops by J K Annand)
P2 – Ava Stevenson (Twa Legged Mice by J K Annand)
P3 – Niamh Castle (Circus by J K Annand)
P3/4 – Lachlan MacDonald (The Magic Pizza by Alison Fitt)
P4/5 – Millie Whorlow (Skippin by J K Annand)
P5/6 – Erin McCulloch (Wullie Wastle by Robert Burns)
P7 – Jenny McCulloch (Up in the Morning Early by Robert Burns)
Family homework this year was to create a picture or a model linked to their Scot’s poem. The standard was very high and it was very hard to pick a poster and model winner from each class. But the results were:
P1 – Bailey (model) & Scarlet (poster)
P2 – Leighton (model) & Emma Lindsay (poster)
P3 – Niamh (model) & Paul (poster)
P3/4 – Kelsey (Model) & Darcie (poster)
P4/5 – Millie (model) & Lucie (poster)
P5/6 – Corin (model) & Miah (Poster)
P7 – Sofie (model) & Anna (poster)
Since the beginning of this term, all children have been busy learning a Scots poem. They had to consider their pronunciation, pace, volume, clarity and use of actions. Mr Plant had the hard job of deciding the winners from each class. They are as follows:
P1 – Moray (Raindrops by J K Annand)
P2 – Ava Stevenson (Twa Legged Mice by J K Annand)
P3 – Niamh Castle (Circus by J K Annand)
P3/4 – Lachlan MacDonald (The Magic Pizza by Alison Fitt)
P4/5 – Millie Whorlow (Skippin by J K Annand)
P5/6 – Erin McCulloch ( Willie Wastle by Robert Burns)
P7 – Jenny McCulloch (Up in the Morning Early by Robert Burns)
