WB 22.06.20

Hi Primary 6,

Can you believe this is the last blog post you will see that says ‘Hi primary 6 officially after this week you are all in primary 7.  Can  I please just take this time to say I have had the best year watching each and everyone of you grow and become confident and independent learners. The outstanding change I have seen in many learners this year is down to your own hard work and persistence. Change is always difficult and as we have seen first hand this year sometimes it can throw you out or routine but the change that almost all individuals have made during primary 6 is one I hope that you take with you into and beyond primary 7. I know that whoever you  get in primary 7 will be taking on an amazing class. Do yourself proud primary 6 and be the best you possibly can I know you are all capable of anything if you put your mind to it.

Although this is the final week of school and we would have been closing up and doing lots of fun things. Well even more fun things than we usually do. I have still put lots of work below for you to engage with during the course of the week.

Literacy

I finished the first twilight book,it was so good that good in fact I am now reading the second Twilight: New Moon. Every page i ask myself questions about the book and relate it back to the first novel. I would like you to continue reading your chosen Novel at home, use the Blooms Taxonomy higher order thinking  to help you create your own questions. You can then answer those question in full using evidence from your books. Here is a picture to help you remember the Blooms Taxonomy levels. Are you naturally asking and answering questions as you go? Try writing some questions down and answer them later, can you remember the answers? Can you find evidence from the text?

Blooms Taxonomy

For spelling choose 20 words out of you Novel that you find tricky to spell or pronounce or both and use them for your spelling words this week.

Use 10 of these spelling words to write sentences, please make sure your sentences are full of exciting words and punctuation.

Art

If you haven’t been doing much art try to create something outside using natural resources, create an image with anything you can find lying around. Take a picture and let me see what amazing images you have all been creating. Ask your adults about Art Attack or look it up on YouTube for some amazing ideas.

Just think your actually closer to primary 7 than you think, not long and you all 27 of you will be in your final year of primary school. It’s such an exciting time. Even more so that you have the chance to explore your own learning even more at home with your adults. Below is the work i have set for this weeks learning.

Can I remind everyone that I have set out work for this week that on your Microsoft teams, there are also activities on Sumdog and MyMaths. Literacy

This week for writing I would like you to write a short story about your time in Lock down, I would like you to remember to split your writing into paragraphs and include lots of details about your thoughts and feelings. As we draw ever closer to our seeing what our new normal will be it’s important to reflect on where we have been and what we have learned. So your writing task this week it to write a personal reflective short story about your time in Lock down. Your paragraphs might contain the following details.

Paragraph 1 – Finding out about Lock down, school closing thoughts about staying at home.

Paragraph 2 – Easter holidays, your thoughts about learning from home, being home schooled.

Paragraph 3 – your journey how your feelings may have changed from excited to bored to nervous, what do you miss about your life, and what are your excited about in the future.

Reading

I started to read a new book this week, I haven’t had the opportunity to read much with being so busy, however i started reading one of my favourite films, Twilight. It has not disappointed me . I find myself asking and answering questions continuously. I would like you to continue reading your chosen Novel at home, use the Blooms Taxonomy higher order thinking  to help you create your own questions. You can then answer those question in full using evidence from your books. Here is a picture to help you remember the Blooms Taxonomy levels. This week we are going to have a closer look at children begin evacuated during the war. There is an Evacuee suitcase activity that I would like you to do, one for during the War and one that you would take with you now if you were to be evacuated. When you have finished both of them I would like you to then complete an Venn diagram with the information you have collected. Your Venn Diagram can be completed on the worksheet I have included or you can do it outdoors and take a photo of your learning.
