Music can have such a positive impact on our mental health. Today, I challenge you to think about your favourite song or piece of music and let us know in the comments. Tell us how the song makes you feel when you are listening to it. Perhaps we could even make a playlist of all our favourite songs – Methlick’s Music!
In the Sway below, you will find a video of me playing my guitar to one of my favourite songs – ‘Let it Be’ by the Beatles. For me, this song is full of positivity and joy – it reminds me to be thankful for everything that I have.
Following on from Mrs Taylor’s lovely recipe I hope some of you have managed to think about the idea of a meat free meal.
I’m sure many families have meat free meals at various points without realising it – for example Macaroni Cheese or even a salad. Those of you that are vegetarian or vegan will be doing this daily.
The idea of ‘Meat free Monday’ is a interesting debate as it opens up some good questions about whether or not it is good for the environment. (It doesn’t have to be on a Monday you do this)
Have a look at the website and read some of the ideas, some of you might need some adult support –
Task 1 – Write a short report sharing your view on Meat Free Monday. You may have to research the website and note down some ideas before you start a report.
Remember to include your feelings and thoughts. Is your report for or against Meat Free Monday?
These questions may help –
Do you think Meat Free Monday will make a difference to climate change?
Do you think it will affect farming? Would this affect farming in our area?
Do you think it will improve health?
Do you agree with the information on the website?
Task 2 – Design a menu or recipe sharing your Meat Free meal. Did you make it?
Feel free to try one task or maybe some of you will manage both.
Remember to comment on here or share with your teacher we would love to see your ideas.
A huge ‘THANK YOU’ to everyone who sent in photographs of the wonderful food you’ve been making for my Feel-Good Friday challenge.
You’ve really inspired me to challenge myself and make some new things. At the weekend I made butteries for the first time. They weren’t easy, but I got there in the end!
Click on the Sway to see all your amazing creations in the kitchen.
Today’s Health and Wellbeing activity is to complete the ‘Stay at Home’ challenge set by Eco-Schools Scotland.
Answer the questions provided and create a presentation of your choosing – Sway, PowerPoint, poster or video. Mrs Webster has provided answers to the questions and her responses are there to offer support/guidance. If you are unsure of a specific question, read Mrs Webster’s response to get some ideas.
Everything you need to complete this activity can be found in the Sway below. Remember to share your work with your class teacher via Seesaw or Glow email.
Hopefully you have read the Spicy task on the grid about tracking animals. I know my children have been more vigilant during our walks and spotted nature changing around. We have also been lucky to spot lots of wild animals so I know some of you will be interested to identify what we see. Choose 1 or more tasks below for your home learning.
Sometimes the animals are well hidden or run away at the sign of any humans so we have to look closely for evidence. Here is some evidence we have found in our local woodlands.
Sometimes the animals leave tracks behind and this resource from the RSPB is very interesting, it shows the actual size of animal prints you might find.
Look closely on your next walk for animal tracks and take a photo or draw an image of what the print looks like, estimate the size so you can compare it with others. Has anyone been lucky and spotted any footprints?
If you have been like us and not spotted any tracks this resource might might help you spot some other animals that like to hide away.
It’s ECO FORTNIGHT at Methlick School. For the next two weeks we will have a focus on all things ECO related.
We hope you are all managing to find some routine and familiarity with the blog and grid activities and we love seeing all your hard work. Thank you for sharing it all and keep working hard.
I hope you have enjoyed taking part in the challenges and activities that we suggested for you this week. I thought we could round off the week with a different kind of Feel-Good Friday challenge.
Click on my Sway to find out more. You can probably guess what it is from the picture! Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.
IMPORTANT : Please don’t take part in this challenge without an adult’s permission and supervision.
I find cooking very therapeutic – especially making bread, even though I’m not very good at it!
Have a lovely weekend and I’ll see you all again next week. 😊
Thank you for joining me on my Music Journey over the last two weeks and all the best for the Easter Holidays.
Reflection
What has been your highlight from the last two weeks? For me, it has definitely been interacting with so many of you on a daily basis. I know that all of the teachers have thoroughly enjoyed seeing what you have all been up to.
I have uploaded one final song that is from my favourite movie. Hope you enjoy and have a great Easter break!
I hope that you all had a lovely weekend with your families.
Here is a question to get you reflecting on your first week of Home Learning:
What has been the most challenging part of your Home Learning journey so far?
For me, it has been getting to grips with the new school blog. It has been challenging to keep up to date with comments and creating new posts to go up throughout the week. As the first week progressed, I became more comfortable with this new way of learning.
In my downtime, I have continued to practise the piano. Click on the Sway to see my progress over the last week! Do you know what song I am playing? If you’re not sure, ask someone in your family!
My P2s know that Wednesdays are special, they even have a special name. We call them Well-Being Wednesdays, at school we try to cover our Health and Well-Being topics on that day. So, I was thinking how do I do that for the blog.
Taking inspiration from all the lovely colouring I’ve seen, I’ve had some time to myself and coloured in my own Johanna Basford colouring page. It was very detailed and my pencils were not small enough, although it was difficult it was really relaxing.
Because this is all quite new to us all, I want to record what I am doing in many ways just like you are doing in your journals and on sway.
I’ve decided to cover my journal with a blank sheet of paper and for each day I’m going to put a small doodle or picture to mark something that happened that day. I can’t wait to see how it looks in a few weeks time. It could be my own personal where’s wally.
My first few drawings are; 1 – Day one it all started 2 – My Thumper story and 3 – Today I made some yoghurt bark.
If you want to join in, it would be great to see pictures of them in the coming weeks and if you start now you can easily catch up, its only been three days.
