Burnside’s Got Talent 2016

On Wednesday we held our Burnside’s Got Talent Final.  Big congratulations to this years winners, Ruby and Scarlett.  Huge well done to everyone who entered and to those who made the final.  Lastly, the final act was a bit too late to enter however they still took to the stage and knocked everybody’s socks off.  It was so good that we felt that we should share it with you so without further hesitation, please sit back and enjoy the wonder that is Fiona and Karen!

Scottish Primary School Cross Country Championships 2016

Following their success in the Angus Primary Schools Cross Country Championship, the Primary 7 boys team took part in the Scottish Primary School Cross Country Championships in April. Competition was very fierce and the boys showed real GRIT and represented the school proudly despite the traditional mixture of Scottish weather, mainly hail and sunshine.April 2016 burnside boys p7 team Cross Country Championships

Delancey UK Schools Chess Challenge – Megafinal

This tournament took place in Aberdeen, Albyne School, on the 1st of May 2016 and had the top players from Scotland.  There were six rounds and me and my brother won three of them and drew once giving us both 3.5 points out of six.  We needed four out of six to qualify for the British championship, so we just missed out by half a point.  We both won rosettes and my brother got a chess book for coming second in his age group.  Most of the people there were from Albyne school.
I beat the oldest person there who was 17.

Burnside Sporting Round Up

Netball
The netball team had the opportunity to play at Carlogie Primary School for their latest tournament.  The girls have been coming to netball practice every week and have continued to show GRIT.  The girls were much more confident at the match and this showed in their performance.  They were delighted, as was Miss Fairweather, when they played well together and won some points.  The team are continuing to develop and practise their skills and some primary 6 girls have also started to come along which will help the team learn together.  We are looking forward to the next tournament already.

Well done girls, go Burnside Netball Team!

Basketball
Burnside basketball team took part in the Angus Finals on Wednesday 23rd March.  It was the first outing for the new school sports strips and we certainly looked smart!  The team played very well to come 6th overall – excellent job!

Football
Our school football team competed recently in the Carnoustie cluster inter-schools football tournament. The Burnside team performed extremely well, showing GRIT and determination in all of their matches against some tough opposition. Burnside finished 2nd on the day behind a consistent Grange team. The boys were a credit to the school and showed excellent sportsmanship throughout. We are now training hard in preparation for our next challenge in May.
