Primary 3a, 3b and 2/3c

21 April 2016

P2/3C : Our class are enjoying trying lots of new athletics activities in PE.  We are trying hard to improve our fitness and are working on our run, jump and throw skills inside and outside.  We are using our maths skills also as we time and measure our activities.

P3A : We have welcomed Miss Lindsay to our class and are looking forward to working with her over the next few weeks.  In health work we are learning about keeping ourselves safe and have enjoyed completing some Road Safety and Internet Safety tasks.

P3B : We are pleased to welcome Mr Weir to Burnside Primary School and are enjoying working with him in our class.  We have recently looked at the work of the artist Andy Goldsworthy and had great fun creating secret pictures in the forest with natural materials.

p2/3c: we have been exploring castles as we begin to look at the elements of Fairy Tales.
We have used the internet to find pictures of castles – especially those that some of us have visited and we have mind-mapped what we know already about them – and what we want to learn.
We have had great fun this week working co-operatively in a technology challenge as we designed, planned and created our group junk model castle, complete with moving parts!

P3a: we have been learning about Scottish Castles and have enjoyed drawing our own castles. We have continued to learn more Scots words including animals, birds and beasties!
Next week we are looking forward to learning more about castles and will be planning castle themed activities for our class.  We will also begin work on money in our numeracy learning.

P3b: we have come to the end of our Scottish topic and have enjoyed listening to and dancing to Scottish tunes.  We have looked at the paintings of local artist Francis Boag and read stories about Hamish the Highland Cow, written by local author Natalie Russell.
We all did very well learning and reciting our poems.  We have even learned a few greetings and phrases in Gaelic!

Primary 3a, 3b and 2/3c are enjoying our Scottish topic in the run up to Burns Night. We are learning Scottish songs, dances and poems and looking at the work of a Scottish artist. We are listening to Scottish stories and talking about the Scottish words we know.
Why not help your child add to our collection by completing the homework sheet?
