Probus Club visit

The Probus Club were treated to a wonderful Christmas performance by primary 5a and were taught some mandarin by Mrs Liu.  Staff and pupils of Burnside Primary School would like to thank the Probus Club for their donations of £110 during 2016.p5a

Communications

Angus Council have signed all Angus schools up to a system called Groupcall, which we will now be using to contact parents/carers instead of printing letters/flyers/newsletters etc.
This will mean that, for routine communications, we will now be contacting the person recorded as the main carer of the pupil by text or e-mail (depending on the size of document being sent).
We will not be monitoring the group call system for responses and so please continue to use the school number, 01241 803472, for notifying of absences etc.

Carnoustie and District By-Election – Monday 5th December 2016

The dining area of our school has been earmarked to be used to host the Carnoustie and District By-Election on Monday 5 December 2016. The pupils will be able to attend school as normal that day.
As there will be no direct access to the kitchen and dining area on the day, a packed-lunch style school meal will be offered to pupils at the normal school lunch cost. Unfortunately no hot meals can be served.  The packed lunch will consist of a ham, tuna or cheese roll, a salad bowl, a piece of cake, fruit and a choice of drink. These will be served in the gym hall.
Pupils who bring their own packed lunches can still do so as normal.
I have also been instructed that the accessible car parking spaces will need to be kept free for the purposes of the polling and that an area of the staff car park will be sectioned off for the whole of the day.
I apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause but I feel it is a small sacrifice to make in order for the pupils to be able to attend school on this election day.
The Kids Club will still be able to run but children should be dropped off through the front door of the school.
If you would like to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to be in touch.

Dress Down Friday

Friday 4 November 2016 is Dress Down Friday at Burnside Primary School. For the privilege of no school uniform being worn that day you are asked to provide your child with a ‘chocolate’ donation, to be brought on the day, which will be used for the Parent Council’s Christmas Fayre’s Chocolate Tombola.
Many thanks

Unstoppable – Harvest Festival 2016

A huge thank you to everyone who came to see our Harvest Festival.  We raised a fabulous £220 for Dundee Cancer Charities and enough food was donated to the Angus Foodbank to feed a family for 12 days.  Children in Primary’s 4 and 5 heard all about the Foodbank Network and how they help people in need.  For more information on Angus Foodbank and to find out how you can help please follow this link: Angus Foodbank

Below are some photographs of the Alf from the Angus Foodbank speaking with one of the classes along with photographs of Primary 4a and 4b with the food collected and a thank you letter from Dr D J A Adamson, Clinical Oncologist.
