SCOTTISH MATHS CHALLANGE

This year Hugh and Jack received a bronze medal in the Scottish Maths Challenge competition. The challenge is where you have a week to solve a bunch  of problems and they get sent to some people to mark it and then the results come back to tell you what place you came. The Scottish math  challenge is a challenge with three parts and it is designed for p7 but you can do it in p5 or 6 as well. All schools in Scotland get to compete if their students want to. We got a certificate for being 3rd but the people in 1st get to go to Glasgow for a trip.

In the math challenge you get points from how well you explained how you solved the problem.  at the end of the challenge you get the results on how well you did. The Scottish math challenge is sorted into 3 part each part has 3 questions. This year was harder for it because covid so some people couldn’t do it. We had practice for it the week before so that we were confident.  Some people that were doing it quit because they couldn’t get it done in time because they had covid.

ADDRESS TO A HAGGIS BY P7

This  year the p7s read address to a haggis by Robert Burns in front of the whole school on the stage. Callie then cut the haggis in half with a knife. We had two weeks to practice it and learn it. The poem had 8 verses and we had to read four of them and we had to stay in sync .  In the poem it was talking about how good the haggis was and was saying it was better than French food . They said that only brave people can eat it. We also had the haggis on our lunch. We then had a great lunch.

BE LEADERS GROUP

In the be leaders group I am the leader for Texa with Dylan  as a vice captain, Callie for Orsay and Iona is the vice captain, Mya for Nave, and Finlay as the vice captain. As captains and vice captains we have to count up the house points every Friday. We also have to make the notice board look nice. On the notice board there will be a large sign saying Texa Orsay and Nave with a golden eagle next to Texa , Orsay with a stag and Nave with a salmon. Also we have to do a activity on Fridays were we tell Mrs. Clark who is here and what we have done in that afternoon. After the October holidays we will change the captains to other people for 1   term  and then there will be 2 different captains.

MY ENDEVOUR (CODING)

This year for my Endeavor I was doing coding  which was really challenging  because I have never coded before. I learnt how to code a plane, boat and a motorbike to go fast and to shoot rockets at people and I even made a missive track and some jumps on the way. To code the game I use a Xbox 360 and Teddy also does the same endeavor so we work together.   I have completed 3 levels a game for people to play at the endeavor fair.  The 3 levels are a race, a maze and a games were you have to shoot rockets . Me and Teddy have been working really hard  on the game for Friday at the endeavor fair but only p 567 can play due to coronavirus . At the fair I would like to do a contest . The contest will be a race and  who ever wins will get a prize . For the race the people will be using an Xbox 360 controller or a keyboard which is a lot harder than a controller.

SMOKING

This term we did  Smoke Free Me and we learned why it is a bad thing to smoke. So here are some facts. When smoking for a long period of time you will get addicted another thing is the tar that is (the stuff in the cigarette) sticks on the inside of your throat causing you to cough. The last thing is when the chemicals go right down to your finger tips and makes you have yellow fingers.  So don’t smoke!
