Primary School of the Year 2022
On the 5th of November it was bonfire night and I really enjoyed it and the fire works were great but my dog was scared,so we took her for a walk. Meanwhile me my sisters and my Mum and Dad went to look at the two bonfire then it was time to go home.

On Saturday 5th November it was Bonfire night there was a Bonfire at the Maltings and there was a Bonfire at Texa Cresent.I was at the Bonfire with my mum, dad,sister Ellie and my brother Dylan.It was a very big Bonfire me and my sister got to hold a sparkler.

Port Ellen Primary is on twitter because we want to know if you’r interested in learning Gaelic. On monday 7TH September Mrs Clark and Miss McRae set up Port Ellen School on twitter. We already have 24 followers one of them are shaun the weather man from STV. Every week during p4/5’s Gaelic leson we give a phrace or word for you to learn this weak it is (is misha or is misa)that means my name is. Sometimes p4/5 give yous a questions to answer some are for fluwent Gaelic speekers and some are for people just starting. By Maisie
On the 5th November it was bonfire night I went to the bonfire and i was holding a sparkler and there was lodes of fireworks and me and my friend were playing when we got back and there was more fireworks we saw lodes of different fireworks then we went in. BY Ciara.
On Saturday night on the 5th of November it was Bonfire night, They’re was Bonfires everywhere and sparklers. The Council set the bonfires up but some of the light the bonfire. The most dangerous thing at bonfire night is fireworks especially the rocket, It goes at 200mph so really fast.

Bonfire night was on the 5.11.11. Bonfire night was fun also my Papa lit the fire and it burnt down very fast. There was lots of good fire works and sparkler. the ground was very cold. The bonfife was very dangerous. beside the maltings.

On the 1st November an Author called Vivian French came to Port Ellen Primary School to tell us 
what it is like to be an author. At the begining of the afternoon Vivian said that we were all authors and it was a really kind thing to do. At the end she signed two bookes for us. If you want to read a good book I suggest The Robe Of Skulls.

Hello my name is Jodie. On Monday 31st October it was the school Halloween party. I was minnie mouse and my pumpkin was a snowman. We played lots of games and my favourite game was corners.

On Sunday 16th October th
e Port Ellen Primary Gaelic Choir flew off on an aeroplane to Stornoway. It took us 40 minutes to get there and it was 20 minutes less than what it normally is. The next day was Monday 17th October that was the day of the mod, the people that were doing poems and solos had to get up quite early to go and do them. I got a 4th for my poem and for my solo I got a score of 178. My choir did really well, we won all of our songs that is our 2 unisons, 2 two parts and our Puirt a beul.

We went on an aeroplane to Stornoway to sing for the Royal National Mod. On the day of the Mod we sung two of our songs in the sports centre. I had a lot of fun.

On Wednesday afternoon P4 to P7 played netball.  I really enjoyed playing netball. Orsay scored 21 goals, Texa scored 20 goals Nave scored 19 goals. I am in Texa I came in second place.

The mod is good because we all have fun and we won. It’s too bad that the big girls and boy are leaving. I learned that singing is fun but singing in Gaelic is AMAZING!!!!!!!

Hi my name is Ciara and yesterday we were doing science in class in the afternoon. This is what we did, we got a bowl and put plastic over it and put sugar on and banged a drum loud and the sound made the sugar move. We learned
that sound is faster in water and if someone bangs the wall quietly you can hear it far away. We did three other experiments.

Yesterday we where learning about science. One of the things we learned was if you put your ear to something metal and get your friend to hit something hard on it you will hear it faster than through the air. If you put your ear to the wall and get a friend to hit it round the corner you can hear.

We did some experiments on sound today. We learned that sound travels 15 times faster through metal and bricks than air. In the ear there is a little bone that sends signals to the brain, it tells it if it’s a high sound or low, loud or quiet and the bone is above the ear drum. Sound is shock wave of vibration. We did an experiment on making something move without touching it. First you get a bowl and wrap it in cling film, second put sugar on it and then get an instrument and bang it and the sugar moves.

Hi my name Eleanor, I am going to tell you about the when Port Ellen primary choir went to Stornoway for the 2011 National Mod. They won 3 trophies and they stayed in a lovely hotel and the food it was lovely too. I enjoyed singing because I like people watching me.

Yesterday we were learning about Science. Two interesting facts I found out were that sound travels eighteen times faster through
metal than air and if you want to measure sound you have to use a Oscilloscope.

Hello my name is Jodie.
On Thursday 6th October p4/5 were having a viking feast and we did a power point. My one was about Vikings on Islay.
Our mums came to see us and each group had something to do, my group was doing weaving we had a good time.
At the Viking feast there was weaving and I did weaving. For food there was stew, bread, fruit and mackerel and there was the 
viking name generator and runes. We made up a saga with Jeremy. We made our own sagas for display and we sang Godred Crovan and showed our anamation and a power point.
