Barcaldine Nativity

The cool angels from Barcaldine Primary School did God’s list of jobs at their nativity performance on Tuesday evening. A church full of family and friends joined in singing carols and taking part in a Christmas quiz and enjoyed a very entertaining evening. They especially enjoyed the creative use of giant cut out shepherds and kings on wheels to complete the scene. Our silver collection raised £74.80 for Text Santa.

The Apprentice

The Nursery and P1, P2 and P3 of Dunoon Primary School performed their Christmas Nativity called ‘The Apprentice’ to family and friends in the last week of term. Both afternoon and evening preformances were very successful as the children performed to a packed hall. Well done to all the children and staff for their hard work!

Clachan and Skipness Christmas Show

Clachan and Skipness pupils entertained audiences in both schools with their wonderful performance of Snowwhite. The children had written an alternative Christmas ending and Santa Claus even made an appearance. The show also featured instrumental pieces and Christmas carols. Thank you to everyone who came along!

Stars are Shining at Kirn!

Shine Star Shine!! That was the message for our plucky little star who was trying so hard to shine to light the way to Bethlehem. The Assembly Hall at Kirn Primary was packed with parents and family members who had come along to see all the children from Primary 1, 2 and 3 perform this heartwarming version of the Nativity story.

Carol Singing and Maths in Morrisons!

Strone Primary P5-7 pupils were invited by Morrisons to go carol singing in the Dunoon store and entertained their customers over lunchtime with some traditional Christmas tunes. The pupils were raising money towards transport costs for their outdoor residential next April. Pupils from Strone Primary School also went shopping at Morrisons for their Christmas Party food, and used their Maths skills to work out the best deals for their budget. Festive news from Dalmally

The children at Dalmally Primary have been busy preparing for Christmas. At the beginning of Christmas the children organised and sold a number of homemade Christmas craft items and raised an amazing £500 for school funds. This week the children took part in a hilarious musical production called “A Midwife Crisis” to a packed hall. Dalintober PS ‘Winter Wonderland’ School Shows Success

Dalintober pupils and staff entertained three sell-out crowds with their ‘Winter Wonderland’ themed school show performances. The show featured dance, instrumental pieces and class performances of some well-known winter classics. Between the show entry fees and a raffle held by the school’s very supportive PTA, a grand total of £2152 was raised for school funds – Dalintober would like to thank all who attended and supported the events and wish you all a Merry Christmas! ROSNEATH KNOW HOW TO PARTY!!

Primary 5-7 at Rosneath Primary School enjoyed a fantastic Christmas Party today. What an array of outfits!! We danced traditional Scottish dances, threw in a mix of modern, Pass The Parcel, Musical Arms and delicious party food. The 2 hours disappeared so quickly and a very good time was had by all. Thank You to everyone who helped to make it a great success, especially the children.

The Christmas Story by St Andrew’s Primary School

The Christmas Story was retold by pupils in Primary 1/2 in St Andrew’s Primary School for an audience of family and friends. Pupils in P 2/3 helped out by warming-up the audience with some Christmas songs, providing narrators and designing posters to help advertise the show. The evening was concluded with the school choir, made up of pupils from P 4-7, leading a sing-a-long of Christmas favourites! It definitely helped put everyone in the mood for Christmas!

Dunoon Primary present ‘Bells Ring Out’

All at St.John’s Church were delighted to have Dunoon Primary’s fantastic choir sing for them on Sunday 14th December at the evening service. The children were beautifully dressed in Nativity costumes and led the service with ‘Bells Ring Out’, a selection of songs and linking narrative. The confident, enthusiastic speakers told the Christmas Story to a packed audience of parishioners, parents and friends. Christmas Tree Decorating

Pupils of St Andrew’s Primary hand-made Christmas tree decorations to take part in the United Church of Bute’s Christmas Tree Decorating Competition. The theme for the tree was ‘The Stars in the Bright Sky Looked Down Where He Lay’. Decorations included stars made from dough, painted white and silver; silver paper snowflakes strung on white wool and pasta painted silver with smaller stars strung together. Figures of the Nativity were hand-crafted out of dough and sat beneath the tree, with a hand-made angel on top. Continue reading Christmas Tree Decorating

An Enterprising Christmas

The Primary 4 class at Lochgilphead Primary School have had a busy term working on their Enterprise topic. The children worked in co-operative learning groups to choose a Christmas craft to sell at the school’s annual Christmas Fair. The children surveyed pupils, researched ideas, sourced materials, created and sold their craft. The class made a fantastic profit of £161.07! They are now working on presenting their ideas on how to spend the profit on educational resources for the class.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Cardross Primary Nativity

Cardross Infants presented ‘Baubles’ to their friends, families and some of the oldest and youngest members of the community. P3 narrated, P2 formed the school band and P1 were cast in the principal roles!

Winter Woolly Wackiness at Achaleven

The pupils and staff at Achaleven Primary had a wonderful time raising awareness and money for Save the Children on Christmas Jumper Day on 12th December.

Everyone brought in a jumper or t-shirt that could be decorated and after taking some time to perfect our designs, we glued, tinselled, glittered, painted and baubled, whilst singing songs and feeling very festive.

Dalintober P5 Oxfam ‘Bring and Buy’ Sale

P5 pupils at Dalintober PS held their annual Oxfam ‘Bring and Buy’ Sale last week and raised over £300. The class sold goods and acted as personal shoppers for the younger children. One of the highlights was the nail bar that parent helpers and Campbeltown Grammar School pupils helped with.

Southend Annual Christmas Concert

Last Thursday, Southend Primary held its annual Christmas Concert. Pre 5 children and Primaries 1-3 performed “Our First Nativity” and Primaries 1-7 performed “Aladdin.” There were also woodwind and chanter instrumental performances. This was followed by Coffee and Mince pies, then parents were invited into the classrooms where the pupils sold their Christmas crafts.

A Very Merry Kirn Christmas

There was Christmas spirit aplenty at Kirn Primary School on Friday as the whole school and particularly Primary 6 pupils hosted the Annual Kirn Christmas Community Lunch.

Specially invited guests from the Kirn community were treated not only to the wonderful lunch prepared by Lynn Stirling and the incredible staff in the Kirn kitchen but to an even more wonderful Christmas Concert.

Christmas is a time of happiness and coming together. At Rosneath Primary School Staff and Pupils recently, courtesy of Mrs Johnson and the ladies in the kitchen, sat down to a delicious Christmas Lunch. Lots of festive cheer – background Christmas music, crackers being pulled, lots of happy smiling faces and…………………………clean trays and plates!

WELL DONE, ELLIE!

Rosneath Primary pupil Ellie Capon travelled to Dumbarton (Frankie & Benny’s) recently to meet Jackie Baillie, MSP. Ellie, along with other P7 pupils from Jackie’s Constituencies, was there to receive a certificate (Highly Commended) and prize for entering Jackie’s Annual Christmas Card Competition. Jackie said it was a very difficult job to judge (she does it personally with her Assistant) as the standard of entries was so high.
