How to Make a Cut-Out Mask
- Making a mask will help you learn how to measure.
You will need:
- Paper plate or cardboard (e.g from a cereal box)
- Wool or string
- Pens, paint or coloured paper to decorate
You will need to measure the distance between your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Measure the distance between your eyes by holding a length of wool in front of your face. Stretch the wool from the middle of one eye to the middle of the other.
- Lay the wool in the middle of your mask and mark each end.
- Measure the length of your nose. Hold a length of wool from the middle of your eyes to the bottom of your nose.
- Mark on mask.
- Measure from the bottom of your nose to the middle of your mouth.
- Mark on mask.
- Ask an adult to help you cut holes where you have marked the eyes and mouth.
- You can cut a hole for your nose or make a flap by leaving one edge attached to the mask.
- Make small holes each side of your mask and thread wool or string through them and knot at one end.
- Decorate your mask.
- Wear and have fun!
