Swing Park Fun in Nurture Class

This week our class enjoyed a lovely trip to the swing park on a beautiful sunny day. The children had a fantastic time playing on the swings, climbing frames, and slides while enjoying the warm weather. There was lots of laughter and excitement as everyone took turns trying the different equipment and playing together. It was wonderful to see the class being so active, supporting each other, and making the most of the sunshine. The trip was a great opportunity for the children to spend time outdoors, build friendships, and have fun together.

Primary 1

Another busy learning week in Primary 1. We have been learning all about living things with a focus on plants 🪴We discussed what plants  need to grow and the different parts of plants. It was agreed that we would like to grow our own plants so in class we have planted sunflower 🌻 seeds and are looking to looking after them and watching them grow.

On Thursday we took part in world 🌎 book 📕 day. We took part in a book scavenger hunt, listened to authors reading their books and made book marks. It was lots of fun.

On Friday some of our grown ups came into school to join us for our school Big Breakfast and then in our classroom to share our learning. We love sharing our learning. We hope the grown up’s enjoyed visiting our classroom.

Have a lovely weekend ☺️

Cooking club week 2

It was sweet week and we made chocolate truffles. We had to get our hands messy this week to roll the ingredients into balls. It was hard not to eat some as we were cooking 🧑‍🍳 as it was very tasty 😋

Lots of skills were used making our truffles, smashing, scooping, mixing, rolling and sharing.

World Book Day P4/3

Image, Free £1/€1.50 World Book Day Books & Tokens - World Book Day

What a day! We all loved World Book Day, especially coming to school wearing our pyjamas and some of us dressed up as our favourite book character.

Darcy – I liked the Authors Live.

Freya – After Authors Live we did our own comic strip characters!  Mine’s is called Cherry Girl and her super power is that she can become invisible.

Grace – I liked the Scavenger hunt and we had to find clues and write the name of the book and the letter beside it.

Amber – We all got a book token home with us!

Oonagh – I love reading and this morning I was reading a “Horrible History” book from our class library.  I dressed up as Jasmine from Aladdin.

Jack – I liked doing the wordsearch this morning.  I found most of the words really quickly!

Lilly – I enjoyed reading in the library.  It was nice and quiet.

Jude – The Authors Live was fun and we got to be illustrators!  My character is called “Party Time” and his super power is that he can shoot explosive confetti out of his arms.

Macie – I liked doing paired reading with my partner.  We took turns to read.

Zac – I liked doing the Scavenger Hunt and I found the clues.

Joseph – Reading is good for you because it gives you knowledge and you can find out interesting things.

Kendall – I came to school dressed as Harry Potter.

Abner – We wrote book reviews about our favourite book.

Siena – My favourite book is called “The Lion Inside” by Rachel Bright.  It’s about a lion and a mouse.  Everyone loves the lion and the lion is afraid of the mouse.  At the end they become best friends because they tell each other what they are scared of.

We have also enjoyed sensory-rich water play and modelling with bouncing putty!

We have also enjoyed our lunches…yum!

We have also loved time outside…wellie free!!

P3🌍💡

Today P3 took part in Energy Saving Hour organised by the ECO committee. For one whole hour, we switched off the lights, put away the iPads, and didn’t use any technology at all  even our Smart Board stayed off!

During this time, we completed our Friday 5 and enjoyed some free writing. We had to think carefully and work together without the help of technology. It made us realise just how much we use it every day! We had a great discussion about whether we could survive a full week without our Smart Board… opinions were very mixed!🤔 We also entered a competition to create a badge for the uniform swap. There were so many creative and colourful ideas!

On Wednesday, we spent time with our school committees. The Play Committee worked hard to create new play rules for all pupils and teachers. These rules will help everyone play safely and respectfully. The Literacy Committee organised a fantastic and very fun assembly all about World Book Day.

This week, we also used our brand-new classroom McDonald’s during play time. Using the new play rules, we made sure to play safely and show respect to one another. The children used their wonderful imaginations to create all sorts of foods you might find in McDonald’s from burgers and fries to some very creative new menu items🍔🍟 We used teamwork, role play, and creativity while playing.

Primary 4/3 – Energy Hour

The Power Hour Returns: 60 Minutes to ... | CAW News  ENERGY  HOUR  AT  ST  MARY’S!

We are all being Eco Warriors! On Friday we had our Energy Hour where the whole school switched energy off in order to play our part in being eco friendly. The Eco Committee asked that we all refrain from using laptops, iPads, lights in the classroom and staff laptops for this hour. During this time we designed a logo for the Uniform Swap Shop competition which the Eco Committee launched this week.

Cooking club week 1

We had a great start to cooking club, this week was savoury week and we made pizza rolls .

Everyone followed the instructions well to make a delicious treat. We had to spread, fold, sprinkle, and baste our rolls before putting them in the oven to cook.

We all worked very  well collaboratively.

Grace – I shared my pizza at home.

Ellis – my big brother ate it!

Jack – it was yummy.
Mya – I ate it all, it was tasty.
Theodor – I loved mine.

Millie – I enjoyed making them and eating it!

We are all looking forward to next week.

Primary 1 Castle Trip week

Primary 1 had a fantastic trip to Edinburgh Castle this week.  This was a big adventure for us and a lot of walking but we all did very well and made the school proud.

We used our trip to inspire our writing.

On Wednesday we participated in our school committee groups where we get the chance to work collaboratively with children across the school. We all really enjoy working with others and making decisions to shape areas in the school.

On Friday we participated in No Electricity in school hour, for a whole hour as part of Eco schools.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
