Primary 1 Health week day two

Another busy day in Primary one, today we kicked off our morning with a visit from the dental nurse 🦷. She brought her tooth brushing dragon friend with her,  she demonstrated brushing his teeth and we had a discussion all about keeping our teeth and gums healthy.

After break we enjoyed a Judo workshop where we learned some basic Judo moves, this was lots of fun, and totally out of some of our comfort zones but we gave it a try.

Football was next on our adventures, we enjoyed working with the football ⚽️ coach to learn drills. Again some of us  thought we wouldn’t enjoy football or be able to do it but we all gave it a good go.

Our final activity of the day was a scavenger hunt in the community garden. We walked along from the school and we adhered to the safety rules of walking beside a road. We completed the scavenger hunt in pairs and had a great time exploring the community garden 🪴 🌳 🪏 🌺 🐦 🧚

Another fantastic health day in Primary 1😀

P4/3 Day 2 Health Week

Day 2 of Health Week has been just as busy as day 1.

In the morning we had a visit from  Childsmile. It was very interesting and we learned lots about looking after our teeth.  We were very shocked to learn the amount of sugar is some of the drinks we like. We are going to try to make healthy choices about what we eat and drink, especially less sugar for our teeth.

We then had a slot working with Destination Judo. We had to take our shoes off before going onto the mat and we all wore a Judo jacket. We had fun with the warm up, playing games, we also worked with a partner rolling, wheelbarrowing and carrying each other on our backs. We then learned how to do some holds and throws. We all worked really hard.

In the afternoon it was our turn for the silent disco. We all had our own set of headphones and could listen to the same music. Mrs Gaffney was DJ with a mic that we could all hear. We picked our favourite songs and had fun dancing.

Our last activity of the day was the much anticipated football. We loved having a chance to develop our dribbling and shooting skills out on the kick pitch.

P3🏰👑

Today P3 enjoyed an exciting visit to Stirling Castle as part of our current topic. We had a fantastic day exploring the castle and learning more about its fascinating history.🏰

During our visit, we were given a special tour by the castle jester, who shared lots of interesting facts and stories about life in the castle many years ago. P3 loved listening to the jester and learning through fun activities and storytelling.🃏

We explored different parts of the castle and discovered what life would have been like for the people who lived and worked there. This helped us to make links to our classroom learning and deepen our understanding of our topic.💭

Everyone represented St Mary’s brilliantly by showing excellent manners and showing our school values!

P7/6 at the National Museum of Flight

P7/6 enjoyed a fantastic trip to the museum of flight as part of their World War II topic.
We enjoyed a super workshop with National Museum guide Eva where we got to see artefacts from WWII including uniforms, silk maps and compasses which were hidden in buttons to avoid detection. We also got to try out code breaking and try on some uniforms of the era.

Next we enjoyed a guided tour around the airfield with David and Ken. We visited the air raid and blast shelters, museum – Fortunes of War – and hangars which contained lots of interesting planes including the WWII fighter planes Spitfire and Messerschmitt and the ultimate luxury passenger airplane – Concorde.
We enjoyed boarding Concorde and learning about luxury,  super sonic flight. We got to look in the cockpit and discovered at top speed it could travel at Mach 2 – over 1300mph!

We also got to see a WWII unexploded bomb that landed in Edinburgh!

After lunch we tackled the assault course and enjoyed some spectacular weather! The airfield last saw an aircraft land in the 1980s when the Vulcan arrived from the Falklands War. Even though it is now mainly grassed over, it is still easy to see the former runways, when it was in daily use in both WWI and WWII!

Many thanks to National Museums and the brilliant staff at East Fortune for such a memorable day!

P4/3 Day 1 of Health Week

What a great start to our Health Week.  For our first activity this morning we could choose to make either a fruit kebab or a smoothie. The fun part was using the smoothie bike! We chose the fruit we like and added it to the blender. To blend the fruit we had to cycle. They were delicious.

We then had outdoor fun playing at the trim trail and we made s’mores! We got to melt our marshmallows over the fire and put it between chocolate digestives, they were delicious.

We then had time with Showtime Circus! We used lots of fun equipment. We learned how to use hoops, flower sticks, scarves and plates.

To end the day we went on a scavenger hunt at the Community Garden. We found murals, fairy houses and dens. We loved going into the Dark Wood. We then had a play at Ennis Park. What a fantastic day!

Health Week Day 1 with Primary 5

First up on this Tuesday morning – we started at The Smoothie Bike. We had the opportunity to make a fruit kebab or a smoothie. We used our collaboration skills to choose fruit, safely prepare it for the blender and make our morning smoothie. 🍑🍌🍊🍓🍎

Next up we had our Circus School Class – we played games, learned new tricks and had fun 🤩 🤡🎪

After a quick snack break we headed outside to the Trim Trail for smores, after a quick safety brief we toasted our marshmallows around the fire. 🔥

In the afternoon we took part in a Strongman/woman led by Mrs. Mains

Let’s see what tomorrow brings!! 🔥

Primary 1 Health Week Day one

What a fantastic start to health week we have had in Primary 1!
We kicked off the day with a Showtime Circus 🎪 session. This was lots of fun.

After Showtime Circus 🎪 we made fruit 🍋‍🟩 🍇 🍌 🍎  🍓 kebabs and made smoothies using the smoothie bike. This was very tasty and fun.

After lunchtime we had an outdoor learning experience where we enjoyed being out in the school trim trail. We talked about how moving our bodies by playing is a great way to keep healthy. We also talked about how it’s okay to eat things that are not classed as a treat and we had a lovely treat at the 🔥 bonfire. As always, we enjoyed spending time with the Primary 7’s.

Primary 1 finished the day with a silent 💃 🕺 🪩. Dancing is a super way to keep our bodies healthy and have fun 🤩.

More photos have been shared on Seesaw.

Primary 1 Sports day 2026

Wow what a great effort for our very first sports day at school. Some of us were very nervous but we all tried our best and used our perseverance. We were also excited to see some of our grown ups races as well. 🏃 🏃‍♀️

We hope everyone had a good time watching our sports day 😀 Have a lovely long weekend.

TheLifeOfTay!

We have enjoyed our lunches this week…We love fish!! Yum!

We have also experienced a range of colours and sounds in the Sensory Room, and have enjoyed the new sensory aroma box too!

Our numeracy work has also come on a pace, and we have also practiced building stacking towers.

Our sound of the week has been learning about the different sounds of the hard and soft ‘g’ . We loved the funny song about goats and giraffes!

We have also developed our relations with our peers in the other ERB classes during our shared playtime outside.

We’ve improved our fitness and balance too in P.E. and have enjoyed lots of sensory play with water and bubbles….lots of bubbles!

P3 🐟🚌

Yesterday, P3 had an exciting school trip to Deep Sea World. We had a fantastic day exploring the aquarium and learning all about sea creatures and their habitats.

P3 enjoyed seeing a wide variety of marine animals, including sharks, rays, seahorses and colourful tropical fish. One of the highlights of the trip was walking through the underwater tunnel and watching the sharks and fish swim above our heads!🐠🦈

During the visit, we learned lots of interesting facts about ocean life and how important it is to protect our seas and animals. P3 asked excellent questions and showed great enthusiasm throughout the day.

Everyone represented the school wonderfully by showing excellent listening skills and good manners.
