Primary 1 – Health Week Day 3

Health Week | Primary 7's Blog

Another amazing, fun and healthy day for Primary 1 today.  We started by making delicious fruit kebabs with our buddies and we tasted fruits we have had before and some new fruits too.  They were yummy and a great, healthy start to our day.  We enjoyed an exercise class in the P.E. hall and some of the nursery children came along too, which was lovely.  Before lunchtime we enjoyed doing some martial arts which we all absolutely loved!  In the afternoon we did a dance class led by Emma from SMK Dance and a football session led by Nicola Lind who is football player and referee!

A great start to health week in P1

Primary 1 have had a fantastic start to Health week.
We started the morning with smoothies. We chopped the different fruit and added it to the blender. This wasn’t just any normal blender. We had to cycle to make the blender work. It was quite tough but we managed it and the smoothies were delicious.
Today we also had a fantastic session with Destination Judo.  We worked in pairs on the mat trying to hold each other and trying to escape. It was great fun.
The day was ended cheering on the staff V the P6/7 pupils during a game of netball. We loved watching our buddies and teachers playing against each other.

The first week of May in P5

It was short but very busy week in P5 this week!

We all caught up after our long weekend, sharing tells of the adventures we had been on and listening to each others stories.

We continued with our reading, spelling and numeracy work. We also started a science experiment with lemon seeds to see if we can make them grow.

With this week being the first week of May, we also learned about Our Lady, Mary and ways we can celebrate her throughout the month. Primary 5 will be conducting the school Mass on Thursday 18th of May and have already been practicing in preparation for it.

The most exciting part of our week was going swimming at Excite in Whitburn. The children were in the water for 45 minutes and had lots of fun being either sharks or dolphins! They all did very well, put in lots of effort and were very encouraging towards one another.

I hope everyone enjoys their Bank Holiday this weekend and I’ll see you all on Tuesday morning!

A short week round up for Primary 7

It has been a quick week in Primary 7.  We would like to start by thanking everyone who attended ‘Rock for Camp’ last week.  We raised over £900.  Thank you to the parent council members who supported us with this, your help and advice was really appreciated.  We hope everyone had as much fun as we did.  Well done to the winners of the games and raffles.

We have also welcomed some very hungry visitors this week.  We have been learning about life cycles.  we have planted seeds and are now looking at the life cycles of animals.  Our caterpillars will be with us for a few weeks as we study different stages of their

development.

Another shorter week next week.  We hope you enjoy the holiday weekend.

Last week in Tay Class

Last week was another busy week in Tay Class.

Below are some moments we caught on camera.

Sensory room fun!   Some children used the mats to  make a den.

Playing games or watching videos on the iPads:

We used the Boomwhackers to play along with the music.

We haven’t used the wooden blocks for a while so ‘A’ and ‘H’ enjoyed  building with these.

‘A’ enjoyed playing with the play dough too.

Outdoor play at the Trim Trail:

Walking on the wavy path.  Great balance and turn-taking!

Primary 1 – Science

As part of our learning in Science, Primary 1 have been finding out about electricity.  They know that it is a form of energy that makes something work.  They can identify a number of appliances in our homes, school and local community that work by electricity.  They also are aware that it can be dangerous and can list some ways to stay safe when using electricity.  Children know why it is important in our daily lives and we reflected on what we could NOT do if we did not have electricity – it was quite a long list!  Look at some of our amazing pieces of work…

Children learned that electrical sings are vital to help indicate any hazards or risks associated with electrical equipment or power supply.  Some children commented that they have seen these signs in the local community.  We went on a hunt to see if there are any in the school and we designed our own electrical safety sign too!

This has been a super topic and the children have all really enjoyed being involved in different activities to  support this learning.

Term 4 so far in P5!

It has been very busy in P5 since we returned from our Easter break!

We had our school trip to Sky Academy which was very exciting. Everyone got to take part in creating movie trailers and hopefully you’ve had a chance to watch them on the QR code sent home! li

We have continued with our maths topic ‘time’ and are starting to get to grips with the analogue clock. We are moving onto the digital clock next week.

In writing, we have started our new topic – Persuasive Writing – and we had a class debate this week about Earth Day and what can be done to help our planet.

We have lots coming up this term starting off with Shrek the Musical – we have some lead roles in our class so look for them when you come along to the performance in June! We have started designing back drops and props so our class looks a little bit like an Art Attack studio!

Also, next week on Thursday morning we are all off to Excite Whitburn for some swimming 10:30am – 12pm.

Have a great long weekend everyone! See you all on Wednesday 🙂

Outdoor learning in P2

This week we loved being back with Mr Lockhart for outdoor learning. We were looking for signs of spring and learning about the trees.

We have also been learning how the moon changes shape and what the different stages are called. We ate Jaffa cakes to show each change in the moon.

Lego Club’s animal magic

We have had another fun-filled week at Lego Club! This week our challenge was to build an animal habit for their favourite animal for Earth Day.

Amongst the creations were snakes in the jungle, sharks in the ocean, fish in the coral reef; as well as penguins, polar bears, rabbits and more! One clubber even created a ‘true view’ of the ocean with plastic and old junk floating in it – which was very sad but very important as we all agreed this should not be allowed to happen.

Well done for your creativity and great discussions Lego Club!
