World Book Day fun in Primary 3!

Supporting World Book Day

What a day!  Great fun was had by all in P3.  We started our day by coming to school in our pyjamas – we could get used to this!

We did a reading doodle activity before putting our detective skills into action and setting off on a Where’s Wally picture hunt!  Back in class we were joined by P4 and we all took part in a live World Book Day football quiz.  Lots of schools across the country were taking part in this and we had to answer a series of questions from famous footballers.

Throughout the day we have done some paired reading, reading crosswords and word searches,  designed book covers and took part in authors live (Scottish Book Trust) We watched and listened to Catherine Rayner who shared her picture book “Arlo: The Lion Who Couldn’t Sleep“, a beautiful story about finding peace and calm.  Catherine also gave us a sneak peek at her sketchbook, and showed us step by step how to draw Arlo the lion. We had our pencils and paper at the ready!

In the afternoon we enjoyed Paired Reading with Primary 6 and we all enjoyed this and asked to do it again soon.  Lots of us in Primary 3 brought in a book from home for the whole school book swap which will take place next week.

We will be bringing home a £1 book token home today which is valid to use until the end of March.

We love World Book Day!

A huge WELL DONE to all of our Primary 3 stars for practicing their poems at home this week!  We were blown away with how well you remembered the words and had confidence to say your poem to all your friends in class!  On Friday morning the whole school gathered in the hall for our annual Scots Poetry Competition.  Congratulations to the children in Primary 3 for sharing their Scots poem to the whole school.  We are so proud of you!

Primary 3 are sending lots of Valentine’s love to everyone!

Have a wonderful, happy, safe and fun February holiday!

A great start in P3

Welcome to Primary 3!

What a fantastic first day we had.  It was great to see everyone so smart and ready to learn.  We were excited to explore our new classroom which is upstairs this year. It was great to see our friends and have time to play and chat together and catch up after the holidays.

It is the Feast of the Assumption today and we said some prayers  and sang one of our favourite hymns for Mary. Today we celebrated when Mary ascended, body and soul into heaven. We made some prayers and pictures to add to our wall display.

Primary 1 – Health Week Day 3

Health Week | Primary 7's Blog

Another amazing, fun and healthy day for Primary 1 today.  We started by making delicious fruit kebabs with our buddies and we tasted fruits we have had before and some new fruits too.  They were yummy and a great, healthy start to our day.  We enjoyed an exercise class in the P.E. hall and some of the nursery children came along too, which was lovely.  Before lunchtime we enjoyed doing some martial arts which we all absolutely loved!  In the afternoon we did a dance class led by Emma from SMK Dance and a football session led by Nicola Lind who is football player and referee!

Some feedback from Primary 1…

Primary 1 Class Talks

⭐  ⭐  ⭐

Congratulations to our two children who delivered fantastic Class Talks this week.  We are blown away with the confidence and skills the children are displaying, and the effort that has gone into Class Talks.

Thank you to parents / carers for taking the time to help your children prepare for this.

All posters are displayed in our Primary 1 cloakroom for people to see as they walk by.  We are very proud of our Primary 1 stars! ⭐

On Friday we had so much fun making playdough!  We all love using and playing with playdough in P1 and thought it would be a good idea to make our own.  Look at us in action…

Here we are in action…

Primary 3

What a fantastic start to the New Year we’ve had in Primary 3!

We’ve started this term by making some great New Years Resolutions for the things we’d like to work on in 2023. Everyone in Primary 3 has worked super hard and should be so proud of themselves.

In Primary 3 we ‘Believe to Achieve’. We’ve decided we’re going to use this phrase to remind us to work hard, have courage and believe in ourselves. This ties in nicely with our school values. In Numeracy, we’ve been learning about multiplication and division and their relationship to each other.  We’ve been having extra practice of spelling and grammar on top of our usual Read Write Ink. We have introduced our new IDL topic, ‘Greyfriars Bobby’.

Just a small reminder:

  • Tuesday and Wednesday are P.E. days. Please remember your school uniform on these days.
  • Homework is issued via Seesaw on Monday and is asked to be returned for Thursday. This includes Read Write Ink reading books.

Well done again Primary 3 on a fantastic start to 2023!

Letters to Santa – Primary 1

Letters to Santa: What you need to know about getting them to the North Pole

Lots of excitement in Primary 1 this week as the children wrote their letters to Santa!  The letters were sent on express delivery so they should reach Santa Claus in Lapland in a few days.  The children also drew a picture for Santa on the back of their letters!  Not long now, we are sure Santa and all the elves are hard at work in the run up to Christmas Day! 🎅🤶
