Today, we’re going to be thinking about distance and direction. I’d like you to create a set of instructions for someone to find a hidden treasure. Don’t tell the person what the secret object they are looking for is – if they don’t find it, redo your instructions and try again!
For example, if I hid a teddy at the bottom of the stairs, my instructions might read:
Start in front of the couch and face the TV.
Walk forwards 6 steps.
Turn to the right.
Walk forwards 3 steps.
Turn to the left.
Walk forwards 2 steps.
Look to the right and reach down.
Today I have another Art challenge. On Tuesday, I asked you to come up with a character who lived in the picture I posted here: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/wl/simpsonps/2020/06/02/miss-blyths-daily-challenge-6/. Today, I would like you to try and illustrate your character – it can be just their face, their whole body or even a scene that they are in!
For today’s daily challenge, we’ll be revising your sequencing/ordering skills. Answer the following questions:
1) Put the numbers in order from biggest to smallest.

2) Put the numbers in order from smallest to biggest.
100 99 89 76 12 102
3) Figure out the next numbers in the sequence. What is the pattern?
22 32 42 52 ? ?
4) Figure out the next numbers in the sequence. What is the pattern this time?
37 42 47 52 57 62 ? ?
5) Figure out the missing number – look carefully at the pattern to figure it out!
Happy Tuesday! I have a writing challenge for you today.
For today’s challenge, I would like you to look at the picture below. Decide the setting (place and time), come up with a character and write at least one thing that happens to them.
Here’s my idea:
Setting: Magic Valley, 1000 years ago
Character: a fairy named Sparkles
Event: She has to journey through the Magic Valley to find a special spell to save the Valley from evil wizards!
(Bonus points if you can figure out where this picture was taken! Hint: it’s somewhere in Scotland.)

Happy Monday, everyone! Please find below the grid for this week, along with the supporting documents. As always, remember to just complete what you can.
Our suggested timetable is just to give you a little bit of structure if you need it, but we recommend trying to complete one Literacy, one Numeracy and two other curricular area activities per day. There is no pressure to complete every activity on the grid – we have given you lots of options, some very active tasks and some that require you to be sitting down and writing or drawing, so you should have plenty of ideas to choose from that will work for your needs!
I (Miss Blyth) have also been experimenting with some new formats this week. This week’s Art lesson has been created using a Microsoft Sway presentation, with videos of me demonstrating the task and explaining the instructions. It should be a case of simply swiping up to get the next slide and pressing play on the video to get the next task!

During the February break the P3 teachers had an amazing adventure. The teachers were all ready to go on a trip in Miss McGregor’s submarine. They were going to the ocean to observe sea creatures, but were worried the huge submarine might frighten them away. What Miss McGregor and Mrs Dunsmore didn’t know was that Miss Blyth had been busy inventing a shrink ray in secret. After many difficult tests and tweaks it was finally finished. Miss Blyth suggested bringing her shrink ray on the trip. If the submarine was smaller, they could go among the creatures and not scare them. What a great idea! The animals under the sea were not at all worried at the sight of the tiny submarine. When the trip was over, Miss Blyth used the reverse switch on her shrink ray to return the submarine and the teachers back to their normal size. Miss Blyth, Miss McGregor and Mrs Dunsmore had a wonderful trip that they would never forget.

My Friday challenge is a scavenger hunt around your house! See if you can find something shaped like a cube, a cylinder, a sphere, a cuboid and (as an extra challenge) a pyramid!

And here is the drawing I created from it! I had to turn my face until my squiggle was on its side, and then I used it as the muzzle of a dog!
