Another #SPSSnowDay

Happy World Book Day!

All P6 pupils should continue to access the variety of Numeracy, Reading and Spelling activities allocated in the Classwork tab of Education City.  The allocated activities can be accessed by clicking on the Snow Day folders, but please explore some of the other areas of the curriculum and activities too.

Since we are not at school to celebrate World Book Day please also visit the website www.worldbookday.com and try out some of the fun activities on here.

It would also be great to see everyone get a little creative in celebration of the the day and send pictures of you reading somewhere a little different.  We had some great examples in the snow yesterday – can we add some more today?  Why not create something in the snow related to one of  your favourite novels or characters?  Or if you’d rather be warm indoors how about creating a model, painting a picture or even baking and decorating a cake along the theme of your chosen book?

We’d love to see your ideas so don’t forget to tweet #SPSSnowDay #SPSLovestoRead

Snow Day Activities

Primary 6 teachers will allocate activities on Education City to allow children to continue with their learning whilst at home during the winter weather.

Children are also encouraged to take the opportunity to use the time to read their personal novels as part of our First Minister’s Reading Challenge and be prepared to share what they have read on our return to class.

Please check back for further updates which will also be shared via Twitter and Class Dojo.

World Book Day 2018

This year we are inviting all children to get creative in celebration of World Book Day 2018.

Since we have already dressed up as our favourite characters for Book Week Scotland, we decided to do something different this time.

Children are being given the opportunity to come to school wearing a t-shirt or hat (or both) that they have designed and created.  This can be based on a book or book character of their choice.

Our hope is that this will encourage children to talk about their chosen story or character with their friends and peers across the school.

Whilst we encourage as many children as possible to take part, the activity is not compulsory and we do not wish to cause families any unnecessary expense. Please make use of old t-shirts etc and recycled materials that you already have at home so that no cost is involved.
