P4a December 14th

Over the last couple of weeks leading up to Christmas we enjoyed the opportunity to see the Primary 2’s and 3’s Christmas Singalong and we also saw the Primary 1 children perform their nativity. We thought everyone did a fabulous job. In class:

  • We have designed and built Santa sleighs
  • We have started to look at times tables in maths
  • We wrote stories about Rudolph who’s nose had stopped glowing
  • We completed some reading all about reindeer
  • In French we have been learning numbers to 31
  • We have completed our NYCOS work and we learnt all about pulse, rhythm and pitch

P4a 30th November

We have been very busy over the last couple of weeks. Last week we did a variety of activities for book week. We made bunting of our favourite books to put up outside the classroom, we wrote some book reviews and created ‘We love reading’ posters. In other news:

  • We have been learning about road safety and played a ‘Crossy Road’ game in the playground
  • In maths we have been learning how to find change from £1 and beyond
  • We did some Judo
  • We made Christmas tree decorations and sold them at the Christmas Fair

This Week in P4A

We have been busy working on our Enterprise topic this week. We have been developing our ideas, making prototypes of tree decorations and presenting them to the class. Next week we will need to make them so they are ready to sell at the fair. Also next week it is Book Week. The children need to bring in a favourite book to share with us in class. This week:

  • We have been working on column addition in Maths, 2 and 3 digit numbers.
  • We have started painting some snow globes
  • We wrote some imaginative stories with different characters and settings
  • In PE we have continued our work in handball
  • We did some reading all about Remembrance day

The Lost Words Calendar 2019

The Lost Words – A Spell Book by writer Robert Macfarlane and illustrated by artist Jackie Morris is something we, as a school, became passionate about in our quest to become more familiar with the language of nature in our native land.

As a the result of Simpson Primary and Nursery’s celebration of The Lost Words through art, we have created a beautiful A4 calendar which we are selling to not only raise funds for our school, but also for Action for Conservation, a charity dedicated to inspiring young people to take action for the natural world.

The cost per calendar is £5.00 and order forms will be coming to you this week – the perfect gift this Christmas! Here is a sneaky peek!!
