P2B Fry’s First 100 Common Words

Hi everyone, I hope we are all doing well.

Attached is ‘Fry’s First 100 Common Words.’

These can be used for reading and writing practice and are most of the common words that will appear in the children’s reading books.

For writing/ spelling I would only choose between 5-10 (maximum) at a time and only move on when the child can spell each of the words independently (lots of praise and repetition needed 🙂

P2B Weekly Timetable Overview

Good morning P2B cherubs!

I’m really enjoying hearing and seeing photos of how you’re all getting on, on Twitter! Please continue to  share your learning with me on here or on twitter, as it give other families ideas for learning.

Some parents and carers have been asking me what the structure is like each day for Primary 2B.  I have attached a rough outline of what we do each day in P2B alongside some possible activities.

This is not mandatory at all, just a rough structure of each day for the parents and carers that would like it.

Please remember: lots of free play and outdoor learning is important too 🙂

Today in P2A…

Today in Primary 2A we had a lovely surprise! One of the Primary 1 teachers from last year, Mrs MacCallum, came in to see us and ask how we were all getting on. Mrs MacCallum showed us photos of the lovely baby Finn and was surprised at how much we have grown up since Primary 1. It was a great way to start our Friday morning and we hope to see Mrs MacCallum again soon.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

P4B World Book Day

We are celebrating World Book Day in style with a range of T-shirt and hat designs inspired by our favourite books and characters!

We received a special gift today in the form of a beautiful spell book, ‘The Lost Words’, which will restore our knowledge of language to do with nature.

We completed an activity today to test our current knowledge and we were baffled by words such as: Wren, Lark, Willow, Bramble, Ivy and Starling!

Over the next few weeks we will look forward to casting our spells and reclaiming these long-forgotten words, so please help us at home by letting us lead you on outdoor adventures; pointing out and discussing things of interest.

Thank you!

Primary 4 Snow Day Activities – Thursday 1st March 2018

Good morning Primary 4!

We hope that you enjoying the snow, staying wrapped up warm and are playing safely.

Here are today’s learning activities:

– Happy World Book day! Continue to design your world book day hat or t-shirt design ready to share with the class.

– Stay cosy and warm and choose a favourite book. Try reading this with a brother or sister, mum, dad or grandparents.  Remember to read with energy and expression.

– Keep a diary of all of the interesting things that you do during the snow days  remembering to include the date of each entry and to use interesting vocabulary.

– Maths and Numeracy: using a ruler measure the snowfall outside, in different areas of your garden or the front of your house.  Try to use your estimation skills first to guess how much snow you think there is (in centimetres) and record your estimation and accurate measurement.

– Maths and numeracy: continue to practice your timetables.  Try to think of word problems with a snow theme using the four functions (add, take away, multiply and divide).

– Finally think about our science topic Forces, think about activities that you can do in the snow, e.g. Sledge, snowball fight. Have think and decide if these forces are pushes or pulls.

Have a lovely day!
