P6 Nursery Buddies

To prepare us for the World of Work, we have been applying and interviewing for the role of Nursery Buddy. Primary 6 were interviewed by Miss Hall and Miss MacAulay. Well done P6 for speaking so confidently and telling us about your fantastic skills and strengths.

P6 STEM: Volcanoes

To finish off our Natural Disasters project, P6 enjoyed building and erupting volcanoes. We used our research skills to plan and write news reports about a Volcanic eruption. We know what a volcano is made of and should look like. We designed and decorated our volcanoes. We used our STEM skills to measure and mix ingredients to create a chemical reaction. Look at our lava pouring down our volcanoes.

P6 Sharing the Learning Morning

Thank you to our grownups who made it along to visit the P6 showing on Friday. The class loved sharing their Sky Up Academy experience with you.

The movie trailers were entirely child led and each child took on an important role in a group to complete the challenge.  ICT, literacy, expressive arts and Health & wellbeing skills were all developed on the day.  We were very impressed with the cooperation in the teams too!

P6 Numeracy

P6 have been exploring number patterns this term in numeracy.  They have been taking part in a mystery story and trying to use clues to solve a hidden message.   So far, we have explored the Vedic Square, Fibonacci Sequences and the Golden Ratio.  This week we will be exploring number patterns found in circles.

P6 Seismographs

P6 have been learning about Natural Disasters. Today we completed a STEM task in groups to build our own Earthquake readers. We tested our finished seismographs by shaking the boxes to see how the graph changed.

P6 Trip to Sky Up Studios

Last Thursday 29th August, P6 attended a school trip to Sky Up Studios in Livingston. We were lucky enough to explore the Sky offices and see lots of people at work. We learned about the different roles and jobs they offer at Sky. We were shown behind the scenes clips of the new Wicked film, taught how to produce and plan trailers and the importance of props and settings. We worked in groups to write scripts, plan, film and produce a trailer. We got to watch our final productions on the big cinema screen complete with surround sound and flashing lights.

Our teachers were very proud of our creativity and behaviour as we represented our school.

Here are some photos of our school trip and an excellent piece of writing describing the experience.

Welcome to Primary 6 – Class Charter

Welcome back to our Primary 6 pupils.

We have had a busy two weeks settling into our new classroom. Take a look at our new classroom charter that we have created together.

We will demonstrate our school values of being nurturing, ambitious and respectful. We will be ready to learn, show respect and stay safe in our classroom.

Ask us about our classroom goals at home 🙂
