Hi Primary 3. Last week we looked at what happens in a church on a Sunday. Today we are going to think about another important ceremony that happens in a church. We are learning about infant Baptism/Christening, which is a ritual where babies are welcomed into the Christian Church. Have you been Christened or baptised? Have you ever been to a christening?
Step 1:- We are going to start by watching a little video of a baby being christened. This will show you what happens and who the people are that are involved in this.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zr34wmn
What did you see happening? Talk to someone in your house about this.
Step 2:- We are going to look at a power point or pdf document that gives you all of the information you need to help you understand what happens at a Christening.
P3 -Christening OR P3 -Christening
Step 3:- We now have a task to do. The sheet shows a picture of a christening. It is has sentences beside it with missing words. You need to fill in the missing words. To help you there is a box at the bottom with the missing words and I have given you the starting letters. If you aren’t printing the sheet off then you can write out the sentences filling in the missing words. Good Luck!

Bonjour boys and girls! I hope you have been enjoying learning some new french words. Today we are going to be asking the question , “Quel temps fait-il?” This means what is the weather like. Oh my goodness we have had such a mixture of weather over the past few weeks. I’m sure we will have had all of the weathers we are going to learn about today.🌤⛈🌨
Step 1:- Go through the Weather Power point or pdf document. This will show you the French and English word for each of the weathers. T-T-6298-French-Weather-Powerpoint-P2-1 and P1 or T-T-6298-French-Weather-Powerpoint-P2-1 and P1
There are lots of different weathers! Just see if you can remember a few.
Step 2:- We are going to watch a video clip of a french Person telling us the different types of weather. This will help us to learn how to pronounce the words in French. You might see some weathers that we didn’t have in Step 1, so you will start to learn to say even more different types of weather.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzlbK_8pZLU
I spotted two new weathers! 1. brouillard which means fog and gele which means freezing.
Step 3:- Keep practising how to say these with someone in your house. Each day they can ask you what the weather is like and you can tell them in French, Wow!
Step 4:- Pick your favourite weather. Draw a picture showing this and make sure you draw yourself in it too wearing the right clothes for that weather. eg If you choose rain then make sure you are wearing wellies, a coat and perhaps have an umbrella. Don’t forget to write the french words for your weather too. Talk to someone in your house about what you have drawn.

Good Morning P.2!
I hope you’ve been enjoying all this lovely sunshine? For the next few weeks we’re going to be learning about Healthy Eating and Food Hygiene. This week We Are Learning To: Identify the 5 different food groups.
Watch the Food Groups video by visiting https://www.twinkl.co.uk/go then ‘sign in’. Enter the following code: ZW8024.
Then, if you can, print off the activity sheets and sort the food pictures into the correct food group on the plate. If you don’t have access to a printer, draw a plate, and then draw pictures of a few different foods for each food group. Heatlhy Eating Food Groups
Alternatively, you could write 5 different labels for each food group: Carbohydrates, Protein, Fruit & Veg, Fats, Dairy & Alternatives, then get a few items out the cupboards at home and sort them into the right categories.
Have fun!

Good Morning Primary 2! Last week we looked at Jewish Family homes. Can you remember any of the special things we saw in the house? Today are going to learn a little about Shabbat .( Shabbat means a day of rest, so any work needs to be done in advance of the day. This includes food preparation and cleaning, and it also means that homework is not allowed.) This is a special Jewish celebration that happens every week .Have you heard of that?
Step 1:- We are going to watch a small video about a family preparing for Shabbat.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zs2hyrd
Did you spot some of the things the family were doing. They were cleaning and cooking. They made special Challah bread, set the table with a fancy white table cover and they polished the silver candlesticks for the Shabbat candles.
Have a little look at the powerpoint or pdf document which will help you recognise some of the things from the video.
How Shabbat is celebrated at home- P2 orHow Shabbat is celebrated at home- P2
Step 2:- We are going to watch the second part of the video – Jewish family at Shabbat,
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/z3hyr82
Did you notice the prayers and the kiddush cup from last week? Did you also spot the Challah bread?
Step 3:- Let’s see if you can match the words to the pictures of the items from a Jewish home at Shabbat.
There are lots of things to look at today. I hope you find it interesting!

Good Morning Phonics Pupils and Parents,
The Read Write Inc Live Lessons are changing slightly this week, with all lessons now available from 9.30am. They’re also adding additional lessons in for reading High Frequency Words (Red Words) – they have Read Red Word 1, Read Red Words 2, and Read Longer Words 3. There’s a broad range of challenge within these, so if you want additional phonics activities, start with Red Red Words 1 and if your child can read them all, progress onto the next set.
1: Go to Ruth Miskin Training on youtube. Watch Set 1 Speed Sounds, Word Time & Spelling lessons. They haven’t published the schedule for June yet, but anything within Set 2 will be appropriate for your child. If you find the daily sound is one that your child is very confident, feel free to try the Set 3 Sounds and Spelling lesson for that day. All of these lessons are beneficial. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ
Optional Extras
2: Go to the Oxford Owl website (all children should have been given a login). Login first, then come back to this page and click this link. Set 1 Speed Sounds book – this is an interactive book that lets your child practise the letter formation directly on the screen. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/api/interactives/29318.html
3: Staying on the Oxford Owl page, if you scroll down slightly from the Set 1 Speed Sounds, you’ll see individual Speed Sound practice sheets. Select the one that matches each days phonics video. If you have access to a printer, print off the relevant sheet. If you don’t, try and do something similar on a blank piece of paper, or in your child’s home learning jotter. https://home.oxfordowl.co.uk/reading/reading-schemes-oxford-levels/read-write-inc-phonics-guide/#set1
4: Practice the Speedy Green Words – https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/api/interactives/29096.html
Hopefully all the links work and you manage to access everything. Finally, there’s a lot of content here. Please don’t feel you have to do it all, just dip in and out of what you can, and what works around your family / work / life balance.

Monday 1st June 2020
Not only is it the 1st of June today but apparently it’s World Milk Day….who knew?! As I was on my walk today I met the little calf in the photo above and it got me thinking about the journey that our milk goes on to get from the farm to the shop. So to celebrate World Milk Day, why not settle down and learn all about where milk comes from!
