WW2 Artefact Handling Session P7S

P7S would like to thank Mrs Liddell for visiting us yesterday from West Lothian  Library Services. We had the opportunity to handle a range of artefacts from WW2. We looked at a variety of uniforms and some of us (see embarrassing photographs!) even got the chance to try some on. We heard all about food and clothes rations, did you know you were only allowed 2oz of cheese and butter a week! Mrs Liddell has kindly agreed to join us in March for our Sharing the Learning Session so you will also be able to experience WW2 brought to life! We look forward to welcoming you….watch this space!

Scots Week in P5/4C

  • The pupils in P5/4C have been immersing themselves in the Scots language this week. They had great fun brainstorming all the Scots words they could think of and then created a Scots dictionary to support their writing later in the week.
In writing, each pupil created a short descriptive piece about themselves using as many Scots words as they could- some great humour in evidence as well!  Later in the week they worked on colouring one of Scotland’s greatest inventions for our display- who doesn’t love a Tunnock’s Teacake??

Food Tasting P3R

In Science we are learning about our 5 senses.

Today we were finding out about the sense of taste.

Mrs Beattie had different foods for us to taste and we had to record whether they were sweet, sour, bitter or salty.

Lots of us liked the salty crisps …but the lemon was not the class favourite!

P2W Sounds of the Week and Money Madness

This week we have been super busy!

We have been learning our new sounds ‘igh’ and ‘y’. Miss Walkingshaw set us challenges this week during our Literacy time to see if we could find our new sounds hidden in a book chosen from our class library. We think we did a great job!

On Monday we always have Money Madness. This is our favourite lesson of the week!

This week we were learning how to add different coins together and coin recognition. We played lots of games with our friends which made learning about money so much fun!

One of our favourite games to play was Money Snap! We were super good at this and some of us even bet Miss Walkingshaw!
