Primary 1

It has been a busy few days in Primary 1.  We continue to learn our phonics and have now completed the first set (s, a, t, i, p, n).  We have been finding objects that begin with these sounds, playing ‘I hear, with my little ear’.

We continue to work with numbers to 10 and have been finding missing numbers on a number track.

We have also been able to meet with our Buddies, play in the classroom and enjoy stories in the school library.

P1

This week in Literacy, we have been learning to recognise  our new sounds ‘t’ and ‘i’ and form our letters correctly. We have also been playing some listening games to practise the four good listening skills, and have enjoyed meeting and sharing stories with our buddies in the library.

In Health and Wellbeing, we have thought about healthy eating and designed our favourite meal, and we have also been discussing what makes a good friend.

In Numeracy, we have been trying to look for numbers all around us. It’s amazing how many we found at school! How many can you spot around your home , at the shops or in the street?

Learning in P 2/1

P1 have been continuing to learn our sounds – i and t. We have been practising to form our letters and numbers (up to 5).
P2 have been continuing to learn about addition and have enjoyed reading our new reading books in groups.

P1 were excited to meet their buddies on Friday and had a great time together in the library.

We all discussed reusing, recycling and reducing rubbish as part of keeping our environment clean and tidy for wildlife and designed posters to show our learning.
We have been thinking about ways to be healthy and drew our favourite healthy meal. Some of our meals looked very tasty!

Numeracy and Maths in The Hive

The Hive children are all settled back into school life and our new children are getting used to the routines.  We have been working hard to practise old and learn new concepts in Numeracy and Maths.  Some of the children were learning about place value and addition of 2 digit numbers.  We were also looking at different ways to make 20.  Some of our children were working with patterns and shape.

Primary One PE

The primary one pupils have made an excellent start to PE by learning all the gym hall routines and safety rules. They have also been developing their catching, bouncing, running, dribbling, jumping and skipping. All of the children have enjoyed learning the ‘banana dance’ warm up. They might even be able to teach it to you at home!

Over the next couple of weeks, we will be exploring passing, throwing and rolling balls at targets.

P1 Starting School

Primary 1 have had a super start to school this week. They have been settling in well, learning all of our routines, and making new friends. We worked hard in the gym with Mr Miller, and our gym days this term will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Mrs Robertson came to class on Thursday. We listened to a story and pretended to be tigers. We had our first assembly today and watched it on the Smartboard.

Please bring a water bottle to class every day and remember your morning snack. Many thanks.

Looking forward to seeing you on Monday for another busy week.

Primary 1

Primary 1 had a super last week and enjoyed spending time with their buddies.  Everyone has worked hard and have shown they are ready to move into P2.

We hope everyone has a great summer and we thank you very much for your kind words and lovely gifts.

Mrs Forbes, Mrs Murdoch and Mrs Buendia
