Problem Solving in The Hive

For the last couple of weeks we have had a focus on problem solving and life skills.

The children were set different challenges in the Block Play and were able to focus and work as a team to create some wonderful buildings.

Eoin was also helping Mr F fix his bike.  He was able to assist taking the chain and the wheel off and Mr F managed to cycle home with a fixed bike!! Great team work!

Five Sisters Zoo

Some of The Hive children are taking part in a project with Five sisters Zoo.

On our first week we got to walk round and become familiar with the zoo.  On the second week we got to feed the birds.  Last week we got to handle some reptiles!

We are looking forward to meeting the monkeys next week!

This Week in The Hive

The Hive children have been very busy working on their Numeracy skills using the numicon and counters.  Alex was practising recognising numbers, matching, sorting and counting accurately. Henry, Aria and Eoin were finding different ways to make 100.

Glen enjoyed joining in with his classes Fischy Music session and worked very hard on his gross motor skills learning how to use the scooter!

Autumn in The Hive

In The Hive we have been learning all about the season Autumn.  We went into the playground looking for Autumn leaves, sticks and berries.  We then brought them back into The Hive and made lovely Autumn pictures to display in our classroom.

Life Skills in The Hive

On Friday we decided to have a Friday treat.  The children decided that they wanted to ice and decorate biscuits.  Only problem was, we had no icing or biscuits in The Hive!! So, we decided to take a trip to Tesco to get what we needed.

Great life skills , great fun, and delicious!

Learning in The Hive

The Hive children have all returned from the summer break and are now settled back in to their school environment and ready to learn.  We have done a variety of Maths and Literacy activities, at our workstations and through play!

Team building in The Hive

We have had a lovely end to this term, doing some really fun activities.  We have been to the Park, out for walks and enjoying the gym hall.  We hope all our Hive children and families have a lovely summer break and we’ll see you in August!
