We made the most of Thursday being outdoor learning day, not just on Thursday but all week!
On Tuesday we took our reading outside. 
On Wednesday we took our Maths outdoors. Eoin was practising his times tables and Glen and Alex were counting the daisy’s!

We all had a lovely Easter holiday and are now getting back into the school routines. We have had a very busy couple of weeks.
Glen and Alex have been enjoying buddy time! Eoin, Aria and Kayden were working hard together on comprehension skills. Henry enjoyed doing some science in his P4 class.
We have had another very busy and successful term in The Hive. The children have been working hard on their Literacy, Numeracy and social skills in a variety of different ways.
Henry enjoyed using our numicon materials to help him enhance his addition and subtraction skills.
Kayden and Aria were focusing on times tables. They asked each other a times tables question and the answer was hidden in the sand!
Eoin was very focussed when learning his tricky words, as they were hidden in a wordsearch.
Alex and Glen were developing their fine and gross motor skills by using bikes and scooters in the playground. They were learning how to balance as well as sharing and taking turns.
We were looking at different ways to learn some new numeracy and maths skills. We took our learning outdoors and Henry was looking for different shapes in the woods. Kayden and Aria were doing a times tables challenge. They were asking each other a times tables question then looking for the answer in the sand. Eoin was looking at different shapes, sizes, lengths and widths to make some fabulous creations in the Block play.
Glen and Alex were working on their fine and gross motor skills and enjoyed using the new outdoor toys!
The children (and staff!!) have been getting ready for Christmas. Mr Fazakerley made an amazing Christmas tree for the Hive which the children helped to decorate.
We have also designed our own Christmas jumpers whilst wearing our Christmas jumpers! We wrote letters to Santa and made Christmas pictures using different 2d shape. Super learning and fun!
This week is Scottish book week. We discussed our favourite types of books and a common theme was Space! In Maths this week we have been learning about money. We have been recognising and adding the value of coins, and some of us managed to work out change too! We linked our maths with our book week chats and tried to work out how much it would cost us to go into Space. We then did some role play and acted out us being in a space rocket.
There was a lot of learning and a lot of fun based around Halloween. We did art and craft activities, Halloween wordsearches and dot to dots, used our measuring skills to make icing for our Halloween biscuits and also dressed up!
We have enjoyed learning new Maths and Numeracy skills in a variety of ways during Maths Week! Some of the activities we did are :
Making 2d shapes using our geoboards and describing each shapes properties.
Using 3d shapes to make a rocket.
Making shapes using sticks in the woods.
Counting each bubble as we pop them.
Counting in 2’s, 5’s or 10’s as we pop each bubble.
Using jigsaw puzzles and Smartboard games to learn about shape and numbers.
The Hive children are all settled back into school life and our new children are getting used to the routines. We have been working hard to practise old and learn new concepts in Numeracy and Maths. Some of the children were learning about place value and addition of 2 digit numbers. We were also looking at different ways to make 20. Some of our children were working with patterns and shape.
We hope all our families had a lovely summer holiday. Mrs Grieve and Mr Fazakerley are so proud of the way our returning children came back into school today. So confident and happy to be back! We were also delighted to have our 2 new Primary 1 boys join us, who both had a fantastic first day!!
