As part of our James and the Giant Peach topic, P3 made a green grasshopper. We used a cardboard egg box for his body. We used lolly sticks and pegs for his legs and we used pipe cleaners for his feelers. We used crepe paper for his wings and we glued on googly eyes too.

Buddy assembly preparation well underway
Primary 7 were pleased to meet with their buddies to help make posters of what the P1 pupils enjoyed doing. A pupil said “It’s fun helping them to learn.” Another pupil said “Buddy lunch helped us to get to know our buddies better.”
P7 enjoyed listening to a talking tree! The tree told them facts about an oak tree. They then learned how to draw a tree.
For RME they watched a short movie about the prophet Mohammad as part of learning about Islam.
Drawing portraits of partners in step by step process was challenging and amusing!
As part of our novel study we worked together to design voting posters and leaflets. Some of “our policies” were to ban computer games, ban swearing, free lip kits to voters, free vouchers to voters and even nap time for staff and pupils!!!
A final wee reminder –
Photo permission forms to be returned( a third of the class haven’t brought them in – despite second letters being given)
Swimming permission forms to be returned.
P3 make a Centipede
Our class have been reading James and the Giant Peach and we have made a lovely centipede. First we got a long piece of foam, then we used a blunt needle and string to sew 100 legs on. Next we painted the centipede green. We each designed 2 pairs of boots, and we cut them out and laminated them. We had a challenge pairing up the boots and fixing them onto the centipede’s legs. Last we added googly eyes. We had fun making it, and we are very proud of our centipede.
Stomping Through The Jungle
In Primary 1 and 2/1 we are still focusing on the story ‘Rumble in the Jungle’.
This week we have been investigating the Zebra and the Elephant. We made collage elephants and handprint zebras to live in our class jungle. We are getting fantastic at singing the Animal Boogie song…keep practising at home!!
Busy Buddies
It has been a short but busy week in Primary 1.
We are very busy getting ready for next Fridays Buddy Assembly. We have been sharing our likes and dislikes with our buddies and creating posters. We LOVE buddy time!!!!
We have been working hard recognising and writing our numbers. This week we have learned about the number 3 and have listened to the story of butterfly 3.
We have been exploring our feelings and we are enjoying singing the angry song especially stamping our feet!!!
Families Connect
We had a great first session with our Families Connect group! This week involved talking about identifying different feelings using picture cards and feelings fans. Children enjoyed their snack with their parents and then enjoyed discussing and investigating feelings and reactions to different scenarios using their magnifying glass. We are already looking forward to next week’s session!
Primary 4
Although this has been a short week we seem to have packed a lot in! In maths we have been looking at place value and working with larger numbers. We used the Sumdog programme on the laptops to reinforce our learning. Next week we will continue our work on place value and working with large numbers.
We have nearly finished our class novel study – Charlotte’s Web. This week we looked more closely at the characters and created character profiles for Charlotte. We will add these to our novel study display along with our art work.
On Thursday we had another great singing session with tutors from the Scottish Opera group. We did call back songs and are gradually becoming more confident when singing in front of the class.
