Primary 7 24.04.20

Today we are going to make sure we have all given our best this week. If you should have attempted spicy maths and didn’t, do it today please. You must ALWAYS challenge yourself. Remember, at the moment, we don’t have a strict timetable and if you want to complete maths later in the day that is okay.

Once you have completed a piece of work you should proof read and up level just like you would be asked to do in class. I still expect a 2nd level piece of work. If you have sent me work this week thank you but now have another look at it and see if you can improve what you have done.

Here is the link for Joe Wicks to get you started this morning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMpSKmcdXBI

Just for a change today we’re going to give Daily Rigour a go. This is the link. https://www.cdmasterworks.co.uk/the-daily-rigour/ . Scroll down to this week edition. Remember you will need to do working. If you have an issue getting on to the website let me know because I might be able to put a PDF into Class Materials or the Blog.

P.1/2 24.4.20

Good morning everyone.

I hope you are all well this Friday morning and ready for another day of learning!

As you know Mrs Stevenson has encouraged me to do the Joe Wicks workout. Use her link again for you and anyone else in your house who wants to join in and get moving. It’s a great start to your day

I thought we could look at some shape work this morning.

Let’s start with a little revision. Look at the powerpoint.

t-n-1433-everyday-2d-shapes-powerpoint_ver_8

Now go on a shape hunt around your house and garden. Keep a tally mark count of the shapes you find. Look for page 3 of the worksheets.

t-n-962-shape-hunt-worksheet-_ver_3

There is also a shape picture you may want to colour. Choose your favourite one from the selection.

T-N-4957-Colour-by-2D-Shapes_ver_4

We had been discussing values and how they link to some religions.

Watch the Kindness powerpoint. You will need a little adult help to read it all.

t-t-2548966-eyfs-all-about-kindness-powerpoint_ver_3

Now complete the Be Kind poster or make your own. Think of a time when you have been kind and illustrate this.

I was kind p.1.2.

Have a lovely weekend!

Primary One – Friday 23rd April 2020

Happy Friday Everyone!

Happy Friday Quotes And Images | SayingImages.com
The end of another busy week. I hope you have enjoyed carrying out the activities that I have posted and I am looking forward to seeing all your work, when we eventually get back to school. A few activities for you to try today.
Activity 1 – Phonics   Kids Spelling Fun - teaches 500 English words on the Mac App Store   new sound oa

L.I. to understand that 2 letters can make 1 sound
S.C. I can blend this sound with other sounds to read words
S.C. I can spell words with this sound
S.C. I can create my own oa words
Today’s sound comes from Inky’s Vowel House. You will find the oa sound on the right hand side, second window down. In this window you will see a picture of Joe Comb who groans “oh no the light is broken!” (the light switch in the window below is not working)

The oa sound can usually be found in the middle of words. Can you blend these sounds together to make words?

s-ao-p      b-oa-t     c-oa-t    r-oa-d   g-oa-t     g-oa-l     l-oa-f      s-oa-k     f-oa-m

Can you think of any more? Can you make a game to help you remember how to spell them? You could play pairs or draw pictures of each oa word  and practice writing the word to match the picture. Remember you can record your work in your jotter.

Activity 2 – Maths Money

L.I. to recognise and use a range of coins

S.C. I can apply my addition skills to add 2 coins together

S.C. I can give change from 10p

Free Clipart Money Coins Clipart
As a follow on from yesterdays task (creating your own shop at home) can you ask someone to buy 2 items from your shop, add them together and give them change from 10p? For example, a tin of beans may cost 2p and a packet of pasta 5p so altogether they cost 7p. How much change would your customer get from 10p? Have fun adding up and subtracting from 10p.
Activity 3- Art

L.I to use a range of media creatively
S.C. I can use paint and cardboard to create a 3D affect
Have a go at painting this beautiful daffodil.
Firstly take some yellow paint and put your hands in it.
Then use your hand prints to make the petals (see below).
Next ask a grown up to help you cut a piece from an egg carton, paint it yellow and stick it in the middle.
Lastly use green paint/pen/chalk to make the stalk. You could make a whole bunch.  Alternatively you could draw one and colour it in.
3D Art. Art Projects for Kids. Spring Art for Kids. Spring Daffodil Hand Print Art. Learning and Exploring Through Play
I hope you all have a great weekend, stay safe and I will post more activities on Monday.

Deans Den

Good morning all, happy Friday!! I hope you have had a lovely week with time to enjoy the beautiful weather. I am missing our time together, especially snack time when we would help each other prepare snack and talk about our day. I have found a recipe on the programme, ‘Big Cook Little Cook’ where they make a baguette bridge, linked to the tale “The Three Billy Goats Gruff, ” one of our favourite stories!! Ask a grown up to help you and if you can send a photo of your snack to the school e-mail. I would love to see your efforts!!

P3- Friday24th April

Good morning from Mrs Morrison!! I hope you are safe and well and enjoying the beautiful weather we have been experiencing of late. I will be posting activities every Friday covering curricular areas such as P..E, Science and Maths.

I know Mrs Hillan encourages you to participate in  Joe Wicks, The Body Coach workouts and I thought it would be a good idea to keep a fitness diary to record how often you are keeping fit and the different exercises you are completing. I have attached an example of a fitness diary, please copy into your homework jotter and complete on a daily basis.

Science

Glasgow Science Centre are conducting daily ‘virtual’ science workshops at 10am and I thought some of you budding scientists would like to watch and maybe try out their experiments. Here is the link:

https://www.glasgowsciencecentre.org/gsc-at-home

I have also attached some science challenge cards to try. I think challenge 18 ‘Dancing Raisins’ and challenge 19 ‘How to make a lava lamp’ look like fun! Try them out, but remember to get your parents permission before you do. Please send in photos of your efforts to the school email, I would love to see them!

James Dyson Science Challenge Cards

Maths

Over the next few Fridays we are going to learn about measure. Why do you think this is an important skill to learn? Which careers need to have a good understanding of measure? Discuss your ideas with a grown up and then have some fun around the house measuring different items. Record your findings in your home learning jotter.

Enjoy the activities P3 and I will check in with you next Friday.
