P6/5 Daily Plan

Hello again! Please remember that “Teams” gets really busy during the day so you are better off accessing the resources you need from “Files” the night before. Please also do not click on “New Conversation” in “Posts”. Please also remember it is not the correct platform for chat. Please do not post Giffs or pictures of pets etc, and keep your posting and pinging to the minimum, and as this will make it easier for you to find things and be less distracting. Another plea: make sure you read this document and the timetable as it has a lot of answers to the questions you are asking. I will try to keep Teams as simple as possible for you all by only uploading what you need for each day into the “General” folder in “Files”. I have added some more activities for you to “Education City Homework”. There are loads of other really interesting activities in their as well. The other website I love is the BBC: check this out (and generally look at their site):

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000h2st/bitesize-scotland-primary-1-maths-1

Writing: We will do a check in at 9, followed by discussing what we have been doing in writing at 9:15. We will then watch Ms Taylor’s video in preparation for our lesson. I will up-load the video for you to download and it is also available on Youtube here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmywsVPor-s&feature=youtu.be

Numeracy: LI To divide by 10, 100 (and 1000). Again I will try to do a live teach for this as timetabled. We will again TJ Book 2a (this can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Maths and Numeracy) this time page 25, which is also in “Files”. For those of you that want to really challenge yourselves try the “How do I plan a simple budget?” activity here:

Spelling: I have up-loaded (into this file: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Spelling) the overviews for P5 and P6, as well as P4 and P2, which you can use for additional support. There is also the Fry’s list of common words. I have also up-loaded a list of spelling activities.

IDL: What do you want to do? I think making a video, possibly about climate change would be great fun. I have sourced some videos that might give us some ideas and copied the links onto the document “Ideas for IDL”. We will look at these and discuss them.

Please also do not to start a new conversation in “Posts”. I will create one when I upload this. Please also remember it is not the correct platform for chat. Please keep your posting and pinging to the minimum, as this will make it easier for you to find things and be less distracting. Reading: I will read the class novel “Wonder” live after morning check ins. The follow up activity is the role of Summariser from Literacy Circles. A sheet to support you with this can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Literacy. However having seen the work produced for Predictor I think most of you will need more space and be better off writing this activity into a jotter

Numeracy: LI To multiply (and divide) by 10 (100, 100). Again I will try to do a live teach for this as timetabled. I will start with TJ Book 2a (this can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Maths and Numeracy) page 24, and then progress onto page 25. For those of you that want to really challenge yourselves try the “How do I plan a simple budget?” activity here:

P6/5 Daily Plan

Hello again! That actually wasn’t quite as bad today as I thought it was going to be. Please remember that “Teams” gets really busy during the day so you are better off accessing the resources you need from “Files” the night before. Because no one could get these resources today I will have to do some of these lessons again. I have added some activities for you to “Education City Homework”. There are loads of other really interesting activities in their as well. The other website I love is the BBC: check this out (and generally look at their site):

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000h2st/bitesize-scotland-primary-1-maths-1

I hope to spend more time organising and less time supervising on Tuesday. Please remember that Teams is an educational platform and use it appropriately. Today’s plan will be a little different from usual because of the teething trouble.

Reading: I will read the class novel “Wonder” live after morning check ins. The follow up activity is the role of Predictor from Literacy Circles. A sheet to support you with this can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Literacy

Numeracy: LI To multiply (and divide) by 10. Again I will try to do a live teach for this as timetabled. I will start with TJ Book 1b (this can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Maths and Numeracy) page 26, and then progress onto pages 58 and 59. For those of you that want to really challenge yourselves try the “How do I plan a simple budget?” activity here:

Health / Reading / Art

In the “Health” file I have up-loaded a drawing I think Mrs Stewart likes. Have a look at it and read the caption. What do you think? Below is a link to the excellent BBC website. You can read the article and watch the video. You can pause the video to copy his drawing, like we have before when using youtube to follow step by step instructions to draw the beach.

P6/5 Daily Plan

Happy New Year!

I wish you all the best.

The format for this plan will develop over the week, as will the timetable and content of “Files”. Please bear with me.

Reading

I am hoping to read the class novel “Wonder” live after morning check ins. This will be the first time I have tried this! The follow up activity is the role of Predictor from Literacy Circles. A sheet to support you with this can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Literacy

Numeracy

LI To multiply (and divide) by 10. Again I will try to do a live teach for this as timetabled. I will start with TJ Book 1b (this can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Maths and Numeracy) page 26, and then progress onto pages 58 and 59. Spelling

I have up-loaded (into this file: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Spelling) the overviews for P5 and P6, as well as P4 and P2, which you can use for additional support. There is also the Fry’s list of common words. As you will see this weak P5 should focus on the letter “j” and P6 have a list of common and tricky words. I have also up-loaded a list of spelling activities. Today please select activities to suit yourself.

Health / Reading / Art

In the “Health” file I have up-loaded a drawing I think Mrs Stewart likes. Have a look at it and read the caption. What do you think? Below is a link to the excellent BBC website. A Digital Nativity

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, our Nativity production this year looks very different.  All classes in the school have been involved in creating a stop frame animation of The Christmas Story.

The story was divided into scenes, with each class being responsible for a scene.  Pupils made the scenery and props, and set up the scene for their class.  Everyone in the class was involved in helping to animate their class scene, and pupils were able to work in small groups at a safe distance.

The stop frame animation involved positioning the characters in the scene, taking a photo, then moving the characters a very small distance.  Another photo taken, another tiny movement made, another photo taken, and this was repeated over 100 times for each scene.  When all the pictures are sequenced and viewed one after another, the characters appear to move by themselves.

There has been a huge amount of work from the pupils involved in creating this year’s Nativity – well done everyone.
We all hope that you enjoy watching it.
