Good morning Primary 2! I really can’t believe this is our last day in P2! Here are some activities to finish off your year.

End of the year questions

Here are your final 2 questions for reflection!

  1. If you could experience one part of the year again what would it be and why?
  2. What has been your highlight of Primary 2?

Alphablocks

We have watched lots of different Alphablocks videos throughout the year. Today, I would like you to re-watch your favourite video! Have a think about all the sounds we have learned this year and the Alphablocks videos that went with them. You can find all the videos here:

Good morning Primary 2! I hope you are all having a great week! We are almost at the end of term, and I am so proud of how well you have all done during these strange times. Here are some activities for your second last day in P2!

End of the year questions

Here are today’s questions for reflection!

  1. What is something that you did this year that you will remember for the rest of your life?
  2. What are you looking forward to doing over the summer?

Numeracy

Here is another fun game for the day! This game is called ‘Salute’ and is very similar to the game ‘heads up’.

What you will need:

  1. Two people
  2. Cards numbered 1-10 (or larger numbers for a challenge). These can be made from pieces of paper or post-it notes

How to play:

  1. Player 1 should stick a number card to Player 2’s head (Player 2 shouldn’t see the card)
  2. Player 1 should give Player 2 clues so they can guess the number (e.g. your number is double 7)
  3. Once the number has been guessed correctly, swap roles and play the game again.

To make the game harder, increase the value of the numbers and use word problems as clues.

Get moving

Let’s get up and moving with Jack Hartmann! See if you can get everyone in your house to join in!

Memories

I would like you to use the template below to draw 4 things that you remember from this year. You can either print this template or draw it on a piece of paper. Once you have drawn your memories, I would like you to write at least 2 sentences about each one to describe it. Send your completed memory sheet to wldeans-ps@westlothian.org.uk so I can see your highlights of the year!

Good morning Primary 2! Here are some activities for you to work through today.

End of the year questions

Here are your questions for discussion today!

  1. What was your favourite book that you read this year? Why was it your favourite?
  2. What was your best piece of writing this year? What made it your best piece?

Writing

Today, I would like you to write a letter to your new teacher telling them all about yourself. Once you have completed this task, please email it to wldeans-ps@westlothian.org.uk so that I can pass it on to your Primary 3 teacher! We love to get to know everyone in our class and it would be great if you could help us do this! Please see below for a list of facts you may want to include in your letter, you could use some of these, all of these or you could even add your own! Remember to write your name at the bottom of your letter so your new teacher knows who it is from.

  • When is your birthday?
  • Do you have any siblings?
  • Do you have any hobbies?
  • Who are your friends in school?
  • What is your favourite subject at school?
  • Are there any subjects you do not like? Why do you not like them?
  • How are you feeling about coming back to school after the summerSee the source image

Art

Today’s art activity is all about using cotton buds to create summer flowers. First, you should research different types of flowers that you may like to make. Then use your imagination to create your very own flower! I have provided some examples for you below. You could stick the cotton buds on paper, you could use the tips of them to paint or you could even construct a 3D model. Send us a picture of your finished flower to wldeans-ps@westlothian.org.uk so I can see all of your fantastic creations!

Numeracy

Have a go at playing countdown! You could use the numbers in the instructions or smaller numbers if you would like to simplify the game. See who can make the total in the least amount of time!

What you need to play:

  • 4 ‘large number’ cards with the numbers 25, 50, 75 and 100 on them
  • A set of cards with the digits 1 – 10 on them, with at least two cards for each number

How to play:

  • Step 1: Set out 4 large number cards (25, 50, 75 and 100) face down and mixed up.
  • Step 2: Do the same with the 1 – 10 cards, making sure you have at least 2 cards for each number.
  • Step 3: Players take it in turns to select one of the big number cards or one of the small number cards, until there are 6 cards laid out all together.
  • Step 4: Someone who is playing the game needs to generate a 3-digit number. This can be by throwing a dice, or selecting cards from a pile of 0 to 9 cards.
  • Step 5: Once the number has been generated, turn over the six cards and players have to try and get to that total using any of the six number cards and any of the four operations.
  • Each card can only be used once and the winner is the first person to reach the total, or the player who is closest after a set length of time.

The game can be adapted by choosing the numbers on the cards carefully and having them aiming to reach a 2-digit number, rather than a 3-digit number.

Have a great day everyone! Remember tomorrow is the final Wellbeing Wednesday!

Use the template below to draw the main screen of your game and then write at least 4 sentences which will make people want to play your game.
