P4 Tuesday 12th January

Good Morning Primary 4, hope you are all well. Here are the tasks that will also be on Teams in case you have trouble accessing them there.

HWB

Here are some Go Noodle activities to get you started today and waken you up ready for the day ahead. Mrs Dobbie will be with you around 9:15am.

Reading _(Pre-recorded lesson)

As this lesson is via a video, it is too long to post on here, so I have attached a link to the first chapter of the story to read for yourself in case you can’t access it on Teams:

L/I To make a prediction.

S/C I can use my knowledge of what I have heard to make a prediction about what the story may be about and what roles the main characters may play.

Task: Write down your prediction of what you think the story is going to be about. Then note down the roles that you think the characters of Chloe and Mr Stink may play in the story. You can use the prediction sheet below to record (write or type on) your predictions or you can note these down in your own notebooks etc then put a copy into your folder in the Files Section on Teams or email to the school.

Tues 12th – Reading Predictions

Spelling

Using your spelling words from yesterday, complete one or two of the tasks from the spelling task cards below. Add your completed tasks/photos into your folder in Files or email in.

Tues 12th – Spelling words list

Numeracy

L/I To subtract one number from another.

S/C I can use my skills in subtraction to take one number away from another with and without borrowing.

Task: Below you will find some subtraction sums, some with and some without borrowing (decomposition/regrouping). There is a ‘Mild’ task and ‘Spicy’ task and a ‘Hot’ task. It is up to you which one you choose, depending on how much you wish to challenge yourself. Remember, you can also do more than one if you wish. Please put your complete sheet into your folder in the files section or email the school.

MILD – Subtraction 12th Jan final

SPICY – Subtraction 12th Jan final

HOT – Subtraction 12th Jan final

IDL

We will come back to our Egyptians topic, but I thought it would be good to complete a personal project whilst we are working online. We will use a Scottish theme for our projects. With this in mind you could do your project on Scottish landmarks, Scottish food, Scottish sports, Scottish animals, Scottish Myths and Legends, or anything else you can think of. Please use the Personal Project sheet below to record which topic you would like to do your Personal Project on, and place it in your folder or email the school. I will then let you know if you chosen topic is suitable. I will give you some ideas on what you can include in your personal project after this.

Tues 12th – Personal Project

Enjoy your day!! Miss Taylor will be with you first thing tomorrow for a writing lesson.

P6/5 Daily Plan

Happy New Year!

I wish you all the best.

The format for this plan will develop over the week, as will the timetable and content of “Files”. Please bear with me.

Reading

I am hoping to read the class novel “Wonder” live after morning check ins. This will be the first time I have tried this! The follow up activity is the role of Predictor from Literacy Circles. A sheet to support you with this can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Literacy

Numeracy

LI To multiply (and divide) by 10. Again I will try to do a live teach for this as timetabled. I will start with TJ Book 1b (this can be found here: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Maths and Numeracy) page 26, and then progress onto pages 58 and 59. For those of you that want to really challenge yourselves try the “How do I plan a simple budget?” activity here:

https://rbs.mymoneysense.com/teachers/remote-learning/?utm_source=NSP&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=RBS7&utm_content=RBS7-067&dm_i=4C7I,ZJHV,24F84E,4G936,1

Spelling

I have up-loaded (into this file: Teams > P 5-6 Mr Colverson > Files > Class Materials > Spelling) the overviews for P5 and P6, as well as P4 and P2, which you can use for additional support. There is also the Fry’s list of common words. As you will see this weak P5 should focus on the letter “j” and P6 have a list of common and tricky words. I have also up-loaded a list of spelling activities. Today please select activities to suit yourself.

Health / Reading / Art

In the “Health” file I have up-loaded a drawing I think Mrs Stewart likes. Have a look at it and read the caption. What do you think? Below is a link to the excellent BBC website. You can read the article and watch the video. You can pause the video to copy his drawing, like we have before when using youtube to follow step by step instructions to draw the beach.

Welcome Back

Welcome back to the new term.  Most pupils are working from home for now.

P1-P4/3 will receive learning experiences shared through Seesaw, which children have access to using the Seesaw App.  Children are encouraged over the next two weeks to work through the activities in their pack, take photographs of their learning and share on Seesaw.

P4-P7 will use Microsoft 0365 Team, which can be accessed through their Glow account. Information for parents on how their child uses Teams is available on the following link: bit.ly/wlglowguide

Nursery children should continue to access our Nursery Blog where there will be daily updates with lots of exciting learning activities. Nursery parents/carers can also collect a PEEP Learning at home pack from the school office.
https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/wl/weedeans/

If your child has any difficulty accessing Teams, please contact the school where we will be happy to help you.
