P3 Topic – Scotland focus

This week Barnaby Bear is in Scotland.  We are learning all about Scotland.   On Tuesday, we made porridge, and we all had the opportunity to taste the porridge when it was ready.   In our writing, we have been learning how to write instructions, and check we have sequenced each thing in the right order.  We have all written instructions for making porridge.

We have been exploring the Scottish flag, and have used different techniques including using wax crayons and water colours to create a wax resist effect.  We have also tried used a range of different textured papers to create flags making a collage effect.

We have also tried some Scottish dancing.  It was great fun!

Busy times in Deans Den!!

It has been another busy week in Deans Den. We continue to work hard on improving our listening skills, which we know will help us with our learning. We also got together around the snack table to decide how best to behave when enjoying snack. Here are some of the suggestions:

“We all wait and behave at the snack table” Charlie- Mae

“Close your mouth when you are eating” Andrew

“Help to tidy up after snack” Maddison

“Use quiet voices at the snack table” Max

“Always use your manners” Mrs Morrison

Snack menus will be sent home next week. Please have a look in your child’s bag and if there are any dietary concerns, please talk to Mrs Morrison as soon as possible.

Primary 3/4

Primary 3/4 have had a busy week this week!

This week in maths we were exploring the value of single digits within whole numbers up to 10,000. This allowed us to order sequences of numbers from largest to smallest and smallest to largest.

For our topic we used Google maps to explore the area we live in to gain an understanding of the term settlements. We followed on from this by exploring the whole of Scotland using an Atlas and identifying the major cities of our beautiful country.

In our writing, we explored our 5 senses to help us write a spooky poem. We used a lot of fantastic wow words to describe what we could smell, see, taste, touch and hear.

Our Primary 4’s had a fantastic morning out of School on Thursday for a local handball event at Craigswood sports centre. They were all fantastic and showed great sportsmanship. They done Deans proud.

To finish off the afternoon P3/4 visited our local Morrisons to learn more about our wider community. We enjoyed our tour of the store and learned a lot about the inner workings of our local supermarket.
