P3 Celebrate World Book Day with a Difference

Primary 3 have been busy writing dog stories.  We have lots of soft toy dogs in our class, and we love reading with them.  We were imagining what the class dogs might do once everyone had gone home, and we have written some lovely stories.  We have been learning to type up the stories on the computer, and this week, we have been taking photographs of the dogs and inserting the pictures into the stories.  We decided to make a book of short stories.  We had a class vote to decide the order of the stories.  We have been learning about alphabetical order, and we have put the stories into dog’s name order.

On Friday, there was a surprise parcel in the class……..

……our book has been finished, and we are able to launch it this week.  We are very excited about sharing our work.

Highland Clearances in P5/6

This week in P5/6 we got a nasty surprise when the laird appeared in our village and told us we had to leave our homes within 3 days. The land was needed for sheep and our rent was overdue.

This made us sad, angry and disappointed. We decided to write to the laird to convince him to let us keep our homes. We discussed persuasive language and used this to compose letters.

Later we  worked as a group and thought about what we would do if we actually had to leave. What would we take? Why? Where would we go and why? Lots of discussion and decision making took place.

Fun Times in P3/4

It has been a busy couple of weeks in P 3/4. We have really enjoyed ‘The Mystery Tour of Scotland’ topic and learned a lot about Scottish Myths and Legends, even transferring our knowledge onto powerpoints!! Mrs Murray then taught us all about the scottish artist, Charles Rennie McIntosh and we made lovely drawings that represented his work. Please have a look at them when you visit our class during parent’s evening.

This week we have begun our new topic, ‘The Egyptians’ and already we have been researching famous people from those times, creating timelines and exploring Egyptian jewellery. We are also excited to be working with p3 and p4 during this topic.
