A big ‘Thank You’ to the Parent Council who helped us to buy new reading books. There was a wide range of books purchased for all learners across the school. We added extra copies of popular collections and added new fiction and non-fiction titles too.

- 04/06/24: 9:00-10:15am: Calderwood Can Chats: Come along and have a look at your child’s jotters. Please come in through the front doors. Due to numbers, we would request only one adult per family.
- 07/06/24: PM: East Calder Gala Performance: Glee: East Calder Park (Next to the Health Centre, Main Street), 5:30 arrival for 6pm start, we are on first. Children should wear their Stag Squad Tshirt and navy bottoms.

- Champion Update: Our beloved Ms Cook is moving on to pastures new at Beatlie Campus and her last day with us is 14th Ms Cook lives and breathes what being a champion is all about; compassionate, relentless in the pursuit of what is right for our children, goes above and beyond and … is a good laugh! As one of our original champs, we are deeply saddened that she is leaving us but she wish her lots of luck in her new adventures. Her legacy will remain at Calderwood for many years to come. For those children that Ms Cook provides enhanced support for, the leadership team will contact you with a transition plan.

- If You Were An Engineer Awards: We are so proud of our two children in Leven Clan who came first for Primary 2! Also, one of our Linlithgow Clan members was highly commended. What an achievement for Calderwood! Thank you to Mrs Curtin and Mrs McLaren for attending the awards ceremony to support our children.
- The P2s from Linlithgow clan and Leven clan put on an excellent connects all about Vikings. They demonstrated their learning through presenting and singing. Well done to all involved.
- We are incredibly proud of our Mrs Mallaney who ran the Edinburgh Marathon for Cash for Kids. She’s an inspiration to us all, showing us that you can! Well done you champ!
- We are so proud of our Ms Cook & Chloe who ran in the Edinburgh Marathon 10K Festival for JDRFUK – a cause close to our heart at Calderwood. Well done you champs!
Schiehallion and Thistle – Health and Wellbeing Focus
As part of our health and wellbeing focus we have explore a number of different topics:
- mental health and wellbeing
- anti-bullying and what is bullying
- positive body image
- how to develop and support positive relationships
- what to do and where to go if uncomfortable feelings get too much to cope with
We have responded to these prompts in our own ways and a selection of these responses are included below.

Creative Calderwood: Skills Update
Gala Day Walk 2024
The East Calder Gala Walk takes place on Saturday 8th June.
The theme is “Toys and Games” if you wish to dress up for the walk.
The starting point is at the cemetery at Calderwood.
Please arrive for 12.30pm, starting to walk at 12.45pm.
Any child wishing to walk in the Gala MUST have an adult with them- they cannot walk without adult supervision.

The attached documents are relevant for current P6 pupils. They provide a detailed overview of West Lothian guidance and process for meeting the needs of all pupils, including those who require additional support. This forms part of a now-established Cluster Assessment Support Transition (CAST) process in West Lothian to enable successful transition. Please note that the parent sessions on the 9th, 11th and 26th September are open to all parents irrespective of catchment and are in person.
