Basketball Team Update

We are extremely proud of all our basketball players today. Everyone played great, and we can see an amazing improvement and using the skills they have learned in training.
Well done to our Primary 7 team who won 2 games and a draw, and to our P6 team who won 3 of their games.
Amazing effort today!

  • A reminder that in Miss Burton’s absence, you can continue to contact Miss Stark, Miss Connor or Mrs Warden via the school office.
  • If your child requires medication, please ensure this is handed into the office and the correct forms are completed. Children should not carry medication in their school bag.
  • At this time of year, children can be inside all day with the cold and wet weather and are therefore in close proximity of each other for longer periods of time. This is just a gentle reminder to check your child for head lice periodically.
  • School Meal Survey 2024/2025: The West Lothian Catering Team are looking for feedback on school meals. We would appreciate if you would take a few minutes to sit down with your child to gather their thoughts and opinion on school meals and let the Catering Team know using the link here.

Road Safety:

  • Park Smart Banners: We have chosen the winners for the posters to go on our Park Smart banners which will be displayed outside the school. The banners are currently being finalised and will be sent to order as soon as possible.
  • Thank you so much to all parents and carers who took time to complete our travels survey – the response was incredible! We are currently looking at the data to inform our School Travel Plan. A copy of this will also be sent to the roads department so that your views are heard.
  • The children and champions have also been completing travel surveys and their views will be pulled together as part of our School Travel Plan too.
  • Where possible, there has been a Pupil Support Worker out at the front of the school at the end of the day.

Calderwood Compliments:

  • World Thinking Day – it was lovely to see some of our learners celebrate World Thinking Day by wearing their group uniforms.
  • NSPCC Connects – Last week we held our NSPCC Connects – Speak Out, Stay Safe. The children learned about recognising if they feel unsafe and ways they can get help.
  • Our Primary 6 Learners have set up “Take What You Need” tubs, which will be situated throughout the school. They have shared information with all clans and are currently putting together a parent/carer leaflet to share with families at home.

Calderwood Compliments:

  • On Friday, 31st January, we held our Calderwood Scottish Poetry Recital. All of the children who were in the final rounds were outstanding and we are so proud of each and every one of them.  Thank you to all our families who supported our children to learn their poems and were able to come along to watch the recital on Friday.  We also want to thank our Parent Council Chair, Jo Ferguson, and retired Peel Primary teacher Linda Povey for giving up their own time to judge the recitals.  A huge well done to our overall winners from Early, First and Second Level.
  • On Thursday, 6th February, Baird, Burns and Mackintosh clans enjoyed their Sharing the Learning event with their families. The children thoroughly enjoyed sharing what they had been learning in school with their families and we appreciate the support of those who were able to make it along.
  • Ness clan put on a brilliant Connects about Scottish Battles. Well done to our learners and thank you to Miss Arkless for making this possible.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a restful break.  We look forward to seeing the children return to school on Tuesday, 18th February.

Ness Clan Connects

This morning, Ness Clan came together to share their learning with their families and the rest of the school community through their Clan Connects.

The children told us all about Scottish Battles.  They did an amazing presentation and we were treated to some amazing singing!  We are so proud of each and every one of our learners.

Ness Clan then spent some time with their adults, sharing more of their learning from the year so far.

Thank you to all parents and carers who were able to come along to support Ness Clan this morning.

Livingston Community Football

My name is Pedro Martins, and I’m one of the coaches for the Livingston Community Football 2016 team.

We’re excited to announce that we’re moving to 7-a-side matches and are looking for new players to join our team!

Team sports offer numerous benefits for children, including:

  • Building Strong Relationships: Fostering friendships and teamwork.
  • Improving Social Skills: Enhancing communication, cooperation, and leadership.
  • Improving Physical and Mental Health: Promoting physical activity and boosting overall well-being.
  • Teaching Resilience and Perseverance: Overcoming challenges and learning from setbacks.
  • Improving Self-esteem and Confidence: Building self-belief and a sense of accomplishment.
  • Enhancing concentration and memory: Improving focus and cognitive function.

We believe that participating in team sports is a valuable experience for young people.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could share the attached image with the parents of your school through a group call, informing them about our team and inviting interested players to join.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Kind regards, Pedro Martins
