End of Term Reminders/ Actions

Dear parent/ carer,
Some end of term reminders.
Transition Challenge:
As our children prepare to transition into their new clans they stopped to celebrate all their favourite memories from their first year at Calderwood. You can find their memories here: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/wl/calderwood/2022/06/19/clan-changeover-transition-challenge-1/
Calderwood Compliments:
If you haven’t completed the form, please take a few minutes to leave a compliment for the champions who supported your child this year: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/wl/calderwood/2022/06/14/calderwood-compliments/
C in the Park:
Wow! What a party! Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event such a success. We would love your feedback:
Medication:
There is a requirement that parents/carers collect any medication stored in school. You can begin collecting this from Monday 20.6.22-Wednesday 22.6.22. Please contact the school office through email or phone to state what time between 8:30am-3:30pm you will collect the medication and we will ensure this is ready to be collected at the school office. All medication MUST be collected by a parent/carer.
Calderwood Couture:
  • On Thursday 23rd can children please wear school uniform instead of P.E uniform due to some of our end of terms events.
  • Any lost property will be displayed outside in the playground at pick up times Wednesday 22nd, Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th June.
  • If you have any couture that you would like to be part of our nearly new collection please send them to the office in a labelled bag.
Kind regards,
Miss Burton

Welcome to Calderwood Nursery 2022/2023

Welcome to Calderwood Nursery, we are delighted to welcome you to our Calderwood family.
I have attached an information welcome leaflet and transition plan with everything you need to know about starting Calderwood Nursery.
We begin welcoming children on week beginning the 15th of August 2022. Your child start date will be dependent on their session type and birthday. For example, if your child is allocated full day Tuesday and Wednesday, short session Friday, your child’s start date will be Tuesday 16th August. If your child is not yet three by w/b/ 15th August your child’s first day will be on their third birthday.
Our Early Years Officer’s Mrs Laing and Mrs Lyon will contact you over the next couple of weeks with a welcome phone call to discuss your child’s start date further and to share anything you would like us to know about your child.
Below are some dates for your diary for parental sessions:
  • Induction to Calderwood Nursery Session – Friday 5th August between 11:30am-1:30pm.
Please book a slot using the link below:
  • Stay and Play Sessions – 26th September
Stay and play are flexible sessions where parents to choose a time (when available) to play with their child in the nursery setting. This gives you the chance to explore the spaces, experiences and interactions your child has every day. You can play their favourite games, visit their favourite spaces and see their interactions with champions and other children.
  • BookBug Sessions – 14th November
Parent and Child Bookbug Sessions help to build children’s social skills and support their speech and language development. Sharing stories, songs and rhymes with babies and young children has many benefits including supporting children’s language, learning and social skills. It’s fun, free and simple, and the benefits will last their lifetime. The Bookbug Sessions support families to do more of these activities, which help build bonds and develop relationships and most importantly, are fun.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,

Miss Burton & Miss Miller

C in the Park: Event Information

Hey everyone,

Just a few reminders about C in the Park for Friday.
You will be aware from all our publicity that tickets were on sale 24th May to 7th June, this was for a number reasons:
  • To ensure we have enough materials to cater for everyone coming. We ordered resources  on 9th June based on the ticket sales
  • To get an estimate of numbers, in order to keep everyone safe, as this is our first whole nursey and school event
  • For admin purposes: We had specific time blocked off (during a busy time of year) to organise tickets and we knew this week we would be running a short staffed office
Those who have ordered a ticket and haven’t yet received one, will receive it on Thursday.
Anyone still desperate for a ticket, can collect one from the office at 3:00-3:30pm on Thursday, cash only. We would request that these tickets are only for families of Calderwood Primary and Nursery and one adult per family (to ensure we have enough resources available/ space). Due to it being such a busy time of year, please refrain from emailing or phoning about the tickets as we may not be able to respond.
Timings: 1pm-3pm
Access: Through the playground, no access through reception. (Although we have toilets available, we would request that you try and use the toilet before attending). Entrance is by a ticket lanyard only, and these will not be sold on the day, we would request that you don’t put champions in an awkward position by showing up without a ticket. Under 2s do not require a lanyard.
Parking: There is only access to the carpark for those offering services at C in the Park and for blue badge holders.
Your ticket gets you access to all areas:
There will be donation buckets for any loose change.
Food traders in the carpark are open to the whole community:
  • Seahills Farm – Cash Only
  • Baked by Pippa – Cash/ Card/ Contactless
  • Food van – Cash Only
  • Ice cream van – Cash Only
In the event of heavy rain, some activities will be moved inside (fingers crossed!) … If there are changes, we will update you on Friday morning.
Dress down day: Children can come to school and nursery on Friday in their C in the Party festival wear, or dress down (no donation required).
Kind regards,

Miss Burton
