Good afternoon everyone,
Can you believe our first term at Calderwood Primary is over?!
I want to say a huge thank you for your support and understanding during this transition period and for bearing with us as we find the Calderwood Way of doing things.
Our relentless focus on relationships has ensured a smooth transition for all our children, and a huge thank you to all our champions who go above and beyond everyday to make Calderwood Primary such a magical place to be.
Our first context for learning has been In Calderwood and you can see from our Sway all the exciting learning that has taken place:
A huge thank you to Mr Jeffery, one of our parents, who captured the our opening day in this outstanding video:
https://vimeo.com/624799785 We are still awaiting another video of all the children being piped in.
This week we had an extremely positive Validated Self Evaluation from West Lothian Council, which we hope to share the findings with you after the holidays. The purpose of this visit was to look at our transition process and it was recognised that other new schools can learn from us in the future.
On Thursday 21st October at 6:30pm, we would like to hold our first Parent Council meeting. This meeting will be in two parts, an AGM to give out roles and then a meeting with items to discuss. We will send out more information about this closer to the time. Due to the current restrictions for schools, the meeting will be help online.
Term 2 will be another exciting chapter for us as we welcome our youngest children to our nursery!
I wish you all a lovely October holiday.
Kind regards,
Miss Burton

Rainy Day Arrangements
It seems our luck with the weather might not keep up this week!
In the event of heavy rain in the mornings:
- Breakfast Club will run as normal from 8:05am-8:25am.
- Children should enter as normal through Glencoe or Glenshee gates after 8:25am
- They will then enter school through the playground door (door in the corner) as below. There will be a champion at the door to help them.
- Primary 1-2 (Mull, Orkney, Shetland, Bluebell & Bramble) will go to their classes, supervised by champions.
- Primary 3-6 (Ness, Rannoch, Tay, Ben Lomond and Ben Lawers) will go to the Breakfast Club area, supervised by champions.
- Any child arriving later after 8:45am, should enter through the main office doors as normal.
If there is heavy rain at break and lunch times, the children will be able to play in their clan rooms, supervised by our champions.
Tomorrow, the school gates will open at 3:05pm for collection. A gentle reminder that following Scottish Government guidelines, adults (unless you are exempt) should wear masks in the playground and at the school gates and there are no dogs permitted in West Lothian playgrounds.
