Updates: 17/08/22

Dear parent/ carer,
It has been fantastic to welcome our children back and see them so happy about being back at Calderwood Primary! We are rapidly growing, yesterday we welcomed 79 new Primary 1s and 47 new children across Primary 2-7, this will also grow over the coming weeks.
With this in mind, it is important, that you, or whoever is collecting your children takes time to read the Sway below. We do have to put a process in place, to ensure our children are collected safely, this is why there are different pickup points for different age groups.
As children are eating their snacks outside at break time, please ensure they have a small healthy morning snack for their break, children who have their snack in a lunch box are finding it difficult to eat all their snack during this time.
Those families who have iPay please use this to order your child’s lunch to save time in their clans, new families to Calderwood will receive their log ins next week. A reminder that the last payment for milk for this term is on Friday 19th August. This can be ordered on iPay or through the office if you don’t have iPay.
P.E Days will start from Monday 22nd August, you will find information about this here: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/wl/calderwood/2022/08/17/term-1-2022-23-p-e-days/
A gentle reminder that everything should be labelled with your child’s name; uniform, jackets, water bottles and lunch boxes.
Kind regards,
Miss Burton

End of Term Reminders/ Actions

Dear parent/ carer,
Some end of term reminders.
Transition Challenge:
As our children prepare to transition into their new clans they stopped to celebrate all their favourite memories from their first year at Calderwood. You can find their memories here: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/wl/calderwood/2022/06/19/clan-changeover-transition-challenge-1/
Calderwood Compliments:
If you haven’t completed the form, please take a few minutes to leave a compliment for the champions who supported your child this year: https://blogs.glowscotland.org.uk/wl/calderwood/2022/06/14/calderwood-compliments/
C in the Park:
Wow! What a party! Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event such a success. We would love your feedback:
Medication:
There is a requirement that parents/carers collect any medication stored in school. You can begin collecting this from Monday 20.6.22-Wednesday 22.6.22. Please contact the school office through email or phone to state what time between 8:30am-3:30pm you will collect the medication and we will ensure this is ready to be collected at the school office. All medication MUST be collected by a parent/carer.
Calderwood Couture:
  • On Thursday 23rd can children please wear school uniform instead of P.E uniform due to some of our end of terms events.
  • Any lost property will be displayed outside in the playground at pick up times Wednesday 22nd, Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th June.
  • If you have any couture that you would like to be part of our nearly new collection please send them to the office in a labelled bag.
Kind regards,
Miss Burton

Lost Property

Dear parent/ carer,
There is a large amount of lost property with no name for our Primary 1 and 2 clans.
Weather permitting, we will have these on display in the playground at your clan door on:
Wednesday: 2:55-3:15pm
Thursday: 2:55-3:15pm
Friday: 11:45-12:00pm
The lost property from the office lost property box will be left on the wooden steps on Wednesday and Thursday for children to look through – non of these items have names.
Kind regards,
Miss Burton

Reminders

Dear parent/ carer,
I hope you had a lovely weekend, just a wee email with a few updates and reminders.
Outdoor shoes
A lot of our children are keen to play on the grass areas which can be muddy and damp at times. A gentle reminder that if your child wants to play in this area they should have a pair of outdoor shoes (that they can keep in school) – wellies or old trainers with a change of socks. This will help ensure they are comfortable during clan time and prolong the life of our carpets.
Planting – Wednesday 16th March
Miss Christie has organised a Super Spud planting session through RHET on Wednesday. All clans will take part in this, please ensure your child has outdoor shoes to change into, a warm jacket and it might be advisable to wear comfy bottoms – like what they wear on P.E days.
Calderwood Magic Miles
If you are sharing your photos on Twitter, please don’t put your child’s name on the tweet. It is okay to add the clan name. This will help keep everyone safe.
Tempest Photos: Clans: 24th March
On 24th March Tempest will take official group photos of our clans for you to purchase. Please ensure your child is wearing school uniform on that day and not P.E kit. They take their shoes off for the photo, so their socks will be on display.
Have a lovely week!
Kind regards,
Miss Burton
