Sponsorship Spectacular 2026

On behalf of the Parent Council, please see the below information about their exciting Sponsorship Spectacular taking place next month!
During April, pupils are invited to take part in the Calderwood Primary and Nursery School Sponsorship Spectacular: Choose Your Challenge.
Pupils can take part by creating their own sponsored challenge. All funds raised will go directly towards supporting the school and nursery.
Pupils can be sponsored to do anything they choose: whether that’s a sporty challenge, helping in the community or doing something creative.  There are a few ideas in the posters on this page, but pupils are welcome to create any challenge they would like.
The Parent Council will be offering prizes for:
– Most Challenging Idea
– Most Community Minded Idea
– Most Creative Idea
Pupils will be given a sponsorship form at school or nursery. If your child wants to take part in the competition, could you please make sure that the box on the sponsorship form detailing the challenge your child decided to do is completed. All pupils, regardless of how much money they raise, or if they raise any money at all, are welcome to enter the competition.
Please return the sponsorship form to your child’s champion by Friday 1 May.
Any sponsorship money raised should sent by Friday 1 May by bank transfer to:
Calderwood Primary School Parent Council
Bank of Scotland
Account Number: 22560568

Please use your child’s name and clan as the reference.
Please contact the Parent Council by email (calderwoodpspc@gmail.com) if you have any difficulties sending funds by bank transfer.

Calderwood Poetry Competition 2026

Today we held our annual Calderwood Poetry Competition!

Our clan reps, shared their poems to their family members and our panel of Judges which included representatives from our Parent Council and the Burns Federation.

A huge well done to all our children who took part, as always the judges had a very difficult job!

Thank you to our choir and Doune Clan dancers, who entertained our guests.

Calderwood Ski Team – 1st December 2025

The Calderwood ski team performed exceptionally well yesterday at the Scottish School Snowsports Skier and Boarder Cross Race.

The course was particularly challenging—set over the Hillend freestyle section, with steep jumps and high-adrenaline twists and turns. We are incredibly proud of all the children who competed at such a high standard.

A special mention must go to Harper, who showed tremendous bravery in overcoming her fear of jumps to take home the gold medal.

For someone only six years old, Niamh was fearless and unstoppable. She is certainly one to watch—without doubt a future Calderwood star racer!

Ruairidh was his usual cool, calm and collected self, though even he struggled to contain his excitement when he learned he had taken 2nd place, grinning from ear to ear.

Results – P1–P4 Category:
🥇 Harper
🥈 Niamh
🥈 Ruairidh

Charlie and Aaron also deserve special recognition. Their age category is incredibly competitive, yet they demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, bravery and resilience, pushing themselves to compete at a very high level.
