Primary 2 have been practicing Our Scottish Poems and every one was keen to try to speak some Scottish words when we were speaking in class.

Primary 2 chose poems Nessie and Street Talk.

We have also been finding out about Black Holes, how they are formed  and what happens if anything goes close to them.

We watched Bairns in the Woods and listened to Tam Dean Burn reading the Gruffalo and  The Gruffalo ‘s Wean.

Highland Clearances in Primary 5

This week we have been finding out more about the Highland Clearances and the reasons why the Highlanders were forced out of their homes. We have used the information that we’ve learned to help us to write our own newspaper stories about the events that took place.

We are looking forward to learning more about Robert Burns’ spooky poem Tam O’Shanter and going swimming next week.

This week we have been busy practising for our assembly. We have been learning Scottish songs, poems and even traditional Scottish dances! We have also really enjoyed learning some new tricky words this week. We have used our literacy skills to help us to practise writing capital letters.

Our assembly preparation is in full swing with rehearsals, singing and dancing.  We’re not going to say too much about it.  Here’s a sneak preview…………………..

We’ve also uploaded the finale, a song called “MacIain of Glencoe” which we’re learning. Click on the link below to download it.  This will also help us when learning the words.

We have been researching space. We made our own alien pictures and we gave them names. We are going to build our own house on the moon soon. We were speaking about our Alien powers.

Questions :

Which planet is third from the sun is ?

How many moons has each planet?

In art we were drawing the Solar System.

Some of us made a house for our Aliens

We were also talking about Joseph and his Colourful Coat. We were writing sentences about him and his story.

Poems have been sent home to learn for Burns Day, so Thursday will be our Tartan Day, when we recite our poems and wear tartan to celebrate.

We would like to make our Moon Houses and the children have been asked to look for junk/parts that they may need for their design to bring to school.

We have been playing Buzz in class to connect with counting in 2’s 5’s and 10’s.
