P5’s Scottish Topic

Since coming back to school after the holidays, we have started our Scottish topic. As part of this we have been learning and performing different Scottish country dances. We have also begun to create our own dances using some of the moves that we have learned.

We read through one of Robert Burns’ most famous poems – Tam O’ Shanter. After this we summarised the poem by writing it in our own words. We were surprised to find out that one of Robert Burns’ poems would be so spooky!

This week we have also designed our own Scottish mascots. The mascots could be based on any design however we had to add labels to explain the ways in which they represent Scotland.
