This week, we have been learning the sound “qu” (Lee) and identifying it in different words, such as question (Anna), quiet (Calum), queen (Haaris), quote (Aaron) and quack (Isla). “Q” almost always needs an “u” after it (Calum) We wrote imaginative stories and we were making them up (Jessica). We wrote about someone who had lost something. We used a spinning wheel on the board that had words on it to help us choose our character, place and lost object. Mrs WS put our suggestions on the board and we spun it and the arrow picked the one we will use (Natasha). It felt easier (Lee). It helped me get the story right (Tara). We also tried to use “but” in a sentence (Anna). In grammar, we learned about proper nouns (Aaron). A proper noun has a capital letter at the start (Jessica) because it’s a name for something (Calum). In Maths, we matched up 2D shapes using the Feely Bag (Tara). We were talking about the corners, the sides and how many there were (Lee). We used the flat shapes from the box as a template to draw robots (Jessica). This week’s Handwriting focus was the letter “q” and we had to put a flick (Alistair) and make sure it was the right way.
Have a lovely weekend!
