Sam won the P1 section of the school HEG wind farm competition. Well done Sam!
Primary 5/4 forever blowing bubbles
We have been looking at the rainbow that we can see in a bubble. We used soft pastels on a black card to create these colourful pictures.
Mrs Paterson visit to P1
Mrs Paterson came to help us spell new words. We played a game joining sounds together. We changed words from pin to spin. Aiden said if you add s to pin you make spin. Poppy-Grace said it was fun. Sam did really well, he said when you take a sound away from snack you make the word sack!
P1 Pirate Challenge
Here are the rest of our pirates the children completed for their homework challenge. The children described how they made their pirates in great detail. They are amazing, well done everyone!
Primary 5/4 news
This week Primary 5/4 have been enjoying getting ready for We Will Rock You. We also enjoyed having Mr Bain in who is teaching us pitch and rhythm in our music.
The Primary 4’s had their swimming assessment this week, we had lots of fun and Eeman can’t wait to go back to the swimming pool. Please take advantage of the lessons if they were offered to your child.
Finally, some of the P5/4’s took part in the first Handball Championships at Deans Community High, we played against 11 competing schools council wide. I was so proud of the children for their teamwork and sportsmanship. You boys and girls made Greenrigg proud, you are excellent role models.
P1 trip to the Five Sisters Zoo
We had a great day at the Five Sisters Zoo. We saw lots of animals. Louisa said she liked seeing the reindeer. Everyone was very brave during the handling session. Kayla said the snake felt smooth. Alsadair said the hedgehog was prickly. Scot said the rabbit felt soft. Jayden loved playing on the pirate ship. We have all written a report about our visit. What a great day we had. Aiden said he can’t wait to go back!
Girls Football Team
The Greenrigg Girls Football team played their first game tonight against Livingston Village. The sun was shining and the girls said they had great fun. They didn’t even mind that we got beat 5-0 never mind girls, you were great and full of team spirit. Thank you to Donna Sanderson for volunteering her time to come with me on the bus, the girls and I really appreciate your help and fantastic cheering us on! Thank you to the Livingston Village girls and their coach for the hospitality and refreshments, we will hopefully see you again.
Ellie McDougall was named woman of the match for her excellent work as first striker, then defender and then a fantastic goalkeeper – those were some impressive saves Ellie. Our Greenrigg Girls have no fear.

Alasdair and David worked together on the dice activity to produce as many sums as they could. They look very pleased with themselves. Well done boys!
Health topic
Natalie brought in her baby box to share with us. It is full of all the things she had when she was born. We could see how much she has grown. We enjoyed seeing all the different items.
